B in Greece: August 2008
http://bingreece.blogspot.com/2008_08_01_archive.html
Wednesday, August 20, 2008. My experience with the police. I was out for a walk this morning, and passed my local police station here in Vrilissia. Having been in it (story to follow) I realized I have never been in a U.S. police station. Wow, the things I am achieving here in Greece. Check that one off the list! I promptly backed into the spot, hopped out of the car, and headed for the metro. After the day with the girls was over, and I was leaving the metro, Vasilis called me to see where I was. Be...

B in Greece: Don't try this at home
http://bingreece.blogspot.com/2010/05/dont-try-this-at-home.html
Sunday, May 9, 2010. Don't try this at home. To start.] Of course, there are drawbacks to an increased police presence, resulting in yet another parking ticket for me the other day. 40 Euros later. Regardless of the local custom, if I ever get pulled over, I am still American enough to stay in my car until told otherwise. Of course, I have yet to get a Greek drivers license, so subservience will probably serve me best in that situation (and a little bit of feigned innocence as well.).

B in Greece: Birthplace of democracy...
http://bingreece.blogspot.com/2010/05/birthplace-of-democracy.html
Tuesday, May 4, 2010. And the funeral plot for billions of euros. Thoughts have been itching the back of my head for a couple weeks now, all surrounding our economic meltdown here in Greece. I have been getting myself all worked up reading readers' comments, in the likes of NY Times, about what they think about Greece and the Greeks. Well, it's gone now! Along with a lot of other things for all of us, not just those who reaped the benefits of years of standard practice. I should hope so. With the recent ...

B in Greece: May 2009

Sunday, May 17, 2009. What is it, exactly? I walk by this market quite frequently and have finally found myself in front of it with a camera. Is it Maxi, or Mini? 160;Is it a market with identity issues? 160;It's really quite confusing. It is larger than most of the markets you find in the neighborhoods, but is it the maxi. Mum size a mini. Market can be before it must simply be called a market? 160;It's certainly nowhere near a "super" market. . Friday, May 8, 2009. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Picture ...

B in Greece: Close, but yet so far away
http://bingreece.blogspot.com/2010/05/close-but-yet-so-far-away.html
Wednesday, May 5, 2010. Close, but yet so far away. Today was a strange day. Typically, I don't find myself near the Center. But today, going to meet a couple friends for coffee, I was driving down the street and noticed smoke up ahead. The view at that moment was directly towards the Center. I figured it wasn't a good sign for what might be happening related to the protests. After parking, and losing that view down the street, I didn't think about it again. B in Greece: November 2008
http://bingreece.blogspot.com/2008_11_01_archive.html
Tuesday, November 11, 2008. A friend of mine, and follower of this blog, mentioned she had looked to it to check for my thoughts on the riots that began last Saturday (12/6). Due to fortunate, or unfortunate depending on how you look at it, timing I was busy flying to the U.S. for the holidays when this mess started. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Athens weather / webcam. B in Greece: September 2008
http://bingreece.blogspot.com/2008_09_01_archive.html
Thursday, September 25, 2008. This morning I was catching a couple minutes of TV while eating breakfast and before heading out to take care of some business. I saw a Greek news piece showing lots of traffic on a particular street, with a gas station near the shot. Trying to read the news line at the bottom of the screen, I couldn't make out what the subject was. . My biggest weakness in having a hard time understanding the news is knowing when strikes are coming. I'm usually lucky and stumbl...We hav...
