A Well-Dressed Quest: May 2014
http://platformcat.blogspot.com/2014_05_01_archive.html
An attempt to visit every station - living or dead - on the big tile map at various North Eastern Railway stations, preferably in a fabulous outfit. Wednesday, 28 May 2014. Apologies in advance for my rubbish hair. I think it is somewhere between Kazakhstan and the Belgian Congo. Or at least, that's what it feels like when you're on a bus full of pensioners. First impressions of Guisborough were surprisingly good. It wasn't nearly as rough as I expected (It is, after all, practically Teesside). T...The o...

This is one of those things that usually raises a 'what on earth is. When encountered in the countryside. It is a gall - a part of a plant that has been grown into an unusual shape by an insect in order to make its nest chamber. Wikipedia has an excellent, readable article on this particular gall - to wikpedia.

A Well-Dressed Quest: Richard Whiteley (or Can Woodlice Cough?)
http://platformcat.blogspot.com/2014/10/richard-whiteley-or-can-woodlice-cough.html
An attempt to visit every station - living or dead - on the big tile map at various North Eastern Railway stations, preferably in a fabulous outfit. Wednesday, 22 October 2014. Richard Whiteley (or Can Woodlice Cough? But realistically without vehicular assistance I was never going to get to Wetwang on a Sunday otherwise. Being a Sunday, there was activity happening at the new Fimber Halt. Wetwang - blinded by the sun. With the hair of the dog, working it's magic, there was just enough time to call in at...

Looks like meat, but this is Fistulina hepatica. Beefsteak fungus is one of the most distinctive edible mushrooms. It may look and feel meaty but it has a strong, distinctive, astringent taste all its own. Below is a photo of a typical specimen in situ, click here. For a more remarkable fruiting body.

A Well-Dressed Quest: Back in the saddle
http://platformcat.blogspot.com/2015/05/back-in-saddle.html
An attempt to visit every station - living or dead - on the big tile map at various North Eastern Railway stations, preferably in a fabulous outfit. Monday, 25 May 2015. Back in the saddle. A bit of revisiting, and some new stuff today, but first a bit of background reasoning. So, feeling somewhat apathetic towards the world of bowls, I requested a day off, using built up lieu time. JP, Mum and I went for a drive. But anyway, bought a fridge magnet, and headed back to the car. Was unsure where to go ...

A Well-Dressed Quest: Unexpected
http://platformcat.blogspot.com/2014/11/unexpected.html
An attempt to visit every station - living or dead - on the big tile map at various North Eastern Railway stations, preferably in a fabulous outfit. Sunday, 30 November 2014. Apologies to all regular readers - both of you - for the lack of updates recently. This is due to various factors, but mainly a combination of poor weather discouraging me from leaving the house, and the fact my camera is, to all intents and purposes, deceased. Had we accidentally stumbled on the station after all? Is now called Rye...

A Well-Dressed Quest: August 2014
http://platformcat.blogspot.com/2014_08_01_archive.html
An attempt to visit every station - living or dead - on the big tile map at various North Eastern Railway stations, preferably in a fabulous outfit. Thursday, 28 August 2014. Is it wildly inappropriate to take photos of oneself at railway stations, on the way to a funeral? But it did the job, and got me to Wombwell exactly on time. Wombwell station (formerly Wombwell West) isn't very exciting. It's got a plastic bus shelter waiting room, and a ticket machine, but that's about it. Oh well, at leas...After...
