His older brother Matt is 6'7" and older sister Elizabeth was 6'0" and both of them played volleyball too. Twenty six years ago, ...

Sunday, January 2, 2011. The day after Christmas, Wendy and I made our annual Christmas trip down to visit my mother and sister who both live in Springfield, IL. The family Christmas was held on Sunday at my sister's home just outside Springfield. On Monday, I was up early anticipating a day of taking pictures of some of the statues of Lincoln in Springfield that I had somehow missed during previous visits or simply wanted to reshot. Is a large bust of Lincoln by noted Lincoln sculptor John McClarey.

Sunday, March 20, 2011. Is It Over Yet? Next year is our 35th. anniversary and we are thinking of reliving a trip we took together back in 1976. We were married in 1977, but the year before we backpacked around Europe for a month and visited many of the places that I had longed to visit since I was a child. As we dreamed of being in the Greek sunshine, we recalled our 30th. anniversary trip - a Hawaiian cruise. Now, what does any of this have to do with Lincoln statues? Lincoln has a certain connection a...

ONE WRITER'S LIFE – AND WORK. Saturday, May 31, 2014. From a 50-Something Perspective, The Big Chill Has Grown Tepid. Late last night, while my younger daughter slept and my older daughter commandeered the computer, I turned on the television to span some time and bring on the sleepies. To my amusement, I found The Big Chill. Came out when I was still in high school and it made me impatient to go to college, where food fights would be an everyday occurrence. And all the record stores. If you need a remin...
