Madame Toubab or My Life in Peace Corps Mauritania: June 2008
http://madametoubab.blogspot.com/2008_06_01_archive.html
Madame Toubab or My Life in Peace Corps Mauritania. Friday, June 20, 2008. Day 1: Friday the 13th. What happened in during the night? As for equipment, come to find out that those handy dandy “high tech” sifter (they look like a big can with wire on the bottom) are not used in the villages, that’s only for city folk In the villages, they just tie a mulafa over the tub (see flickr photos) and push the flour through. It all worked. Cheers from here,. Sunday, June 8, 2008. There is also a commercial on loca...

I'd wish I could say that I have been so overloaded with work that I haven't had time. but that would be a lie. Just take a look at my Books Read list.I should add a "movies and series downloaded" list as well. God bless utorrent. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Remis is an understatement. My Photos on Flickr. Madame Toubab or My Life in Peace Corps Mauritania: On the Road Again
http://madametoubab.blogspot.com/2009/06/on-road-again.html
Madame Toubab or My Life in Peace Corps Mauritania. Sunday, June 21, 2009. On the Road Again. I am finally back in Atar after taking a little farewell tour across the RIM. I scored the best ride ever. I got to tag along in a Peace Corps vehicle all the way out to Aioun and back. They always have A/C, personal space, seat belts and terrific drivers. Given the scorching heat and humidity we encountered, I consider myself quite blessed to have traveled in the big white Land Rover. Subscribe to: Post Comment...

Notes from Mauritania: And the Weekend is...
http://wdrchicago.blogspot.com/2008/01/and-weekend-is.html
Mercredi 2 janvier 2008. And the Weekend is. I went to my friend Youssouf's on Friday afternoon to eat some rice and fish and watch Prisonbreak. During the middle of the third episode he turned to me and said something about Friday and Saturday being the new weekend. We were hanging out, watching TV, getting ready to eat with our hand, so yeah, it was just like the weekend. Afficher mon profil complet. My Photos of Mauritania. Notes from Mauritania: Fish Bones
http://wdrchicago.blogspot.com/2008/08/fish-bones.html
Mercredi 6 août 2008. The problem was that man was very forgetful and he had forgotten how to breathe underwater. He would dive into the primordial sea, fill his lungs with water, and begin to splash around and make all sorts of noise, which could be heard for many miles in the sea. 8220;Watch me, it’s easy! 8220;Just move your tail back and forth! Soon man was moving through the water in an awkward fashion. But he kept his head high and tried not to sink below the surface. Is it so bad there on land?

Notes from Mauritania: The Call of the Donkey
http://wdrchicago.blogspot.com/2008/08/call-of-donkey.html
Mercredi 6 août 2008. The Call of the Donkey. Why does the donkey bray? Because the donkey remembers a time when he had no master. In packs a thousand strong, donkey roamed the land alongside his cousin, horse. Horse was faster over short distances, but donkey was smaller, stronger, and braver and could go farther than any other creature. Donkey explored the mountains, the desert, and the forests and found a home everywhere he went. 8220;I live with my master! He feeds me everyday! 8221; Donkey asked.

The Color Orange: June 2006
http://the-color-orange.blogspot.com/2006_06_01_archive.html
I don't need a disclaimer anymore! Sunday, June 25, 2006. This was taken last fall in Lincoln Park. I'm standing at the north end of Diversey Harbor. The sky grabbed me. Posted by Sarah Elizabeth @ 10:15 PM 0 comments. But those glimpses captured my imagination. Tony Bennett hung around in the back of my head crooning Chicago! The kookiest thing I did that summer was to take the train out to DuPage. I discovered the college’s Anime Club online and one of their gatherings was a day of watching fan-dub...

The Color Orange: January 2007

I don't need a disclaimer anymore! Friday, January 26, 2007. It's not just a county anymore! It occurs to me that I haven’t talked much about King George. So, what is King George, Virginia? There is the requisite rural weirdness. About a mile away is the Pine Hill Hunt Club. On Saturdays and Sundays during hunting season you can usually catch the braying of hounds on the chase. I’m told the club is rapidly aging, so maybe they’ll disband in the near future. "Dad-burnit! Yeah, that’ll teach that sonuva- .
