A Life Worth Chasing. The Heat is Real. September 22, 2015. I would if I could…but the power bill would kill me! Fortunately, I have not been in my apartment often, so am only really losing sleep over the issueno biggy, eh. 😉 If you’ve been following my facebook page you may have a pretty good idea of what I have been up to the past few months. Some art projects from kids at summer camp. Kids getting active at camp! At a workshop, saying something important I’m sure 🙂. The Blessed Hands Foundation.

Getting Through | A Life Worth Chasing

A Life Worth Chasing. May 31, 2014. Will I survive this? So what if I do? Tomorrow it will just happen all over again. This is merely an everyday ride on a Guyanese minibus. Our primary mode of transportation…. As you can see, we are headed towards “the light” every time we get in the bus 😉. In reality, I have become pretty accustom to this daily adrenaline rush, and it has just been one of the many things becoming more and more familiar to us as we adapt to our new Guyanese lives. Aside from the variou...

A Life Worth Chasing. Clearly focused with Blurred vision. August 15, 2014. So it has been over a month at site, and I guess it’s difficult to summarize everything that the month has brought. In a way, it’s hard because there have been so many interesting, funny, and unexpected things that have happened, that it’s hard to capture them all in an update; and in a way it’s hard because it feels like nothing has really happened at all. River Trip to Amerindian Village for Health Outreach. Aside from trying t...

Tim, Peace Corps Volunteer in Guyana: New Years
http://timsguyana.blogspot.com/2015/01/new-years.html
Tim, Peace Corps Volunteer in Guyana. Wednesday, January 28, 2015. I left for Suriname on the 28. Most people left to continue the party at Jackie’s house. Andrew, Kelly, Jerrell, Ashley, Miriam, Eben, Naomi, and I all stayed behind. Some of us started slinging our hammocks since we planned on sleeping outside. Normally, since the average temperature at night is in the high 70s, this wouldn't be an issue. I’ll return to this in a second. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). The Last Days in Mabaruma.
Tim, Peace Corps Volunteer in Guyana: October 2014
http://timsguyana.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html
Tim, Peace Corps Volunteer in Guyana. Thursday, October 2, 2014. Good morning everyone. It’s 5:30AM Guyana time, do you know where Tim is? He’s sitting in front of his computer with barely working internet checking Oregonlive for Beaver news. Sipping a cup of coffee. Relaxing in the early morning stillness punctuated by the god damn annoying cries of the local roosters. Nearby, a small bottle of mosquito repellent taunts him. It says, “Hey, put me on! Hi everybody, kind of a lot to talk about today.
Tim, Peace Corps Volunteer in Guyana: June 2015
http://timsguyana.blogspot.com/2015_06_01_archive.html
Tim, Peace Corps Volunteer in Guyana. Monday, June 29, 2015. Well, I made it. It wasn’t easy. Hard might even be an overstatement. But I made it nonetheless. It started in Georgetown and after losing two compatriots to illness, another two to a faster route which left me, this new Guy 27, Kristen and her counterpart Andrea. This being the first time any of us had met each other, conversation was sparse to say the least. That being said it was still an interesting journey. Wednesday, June 17, 2015. Phew, ...

Tim, Peace Corps Volunteer in Guyana. Friday, November 28, 2014. Hi everybody, I’m back again. God I hope so. The worst part is that I don’t feel like I can say anything and if I could, what would I say? 8220;Hey, stop torturing your dog.”? Hey everyone, I went to Kaiteur Falls on Saturday. I’ve seen it spelled a lot of different ways so that’s what we’ll go with. It was pretty cool. Supposedly, it’s the highest single drop waterfall in the world at 741 feet high. ...But better than that was getting to s...
Tim, Peace Corps Volunteer in Guyana: July 2015
http://timsguyana.blogspot.com/2015_07_01_archive.html
Tim, Peace Corps Volunteer in Guyana. Friday, July 10, 2015. Welcome to Kwakwani Pt. 2. Well, I spent a week in Kwakwani. It was an experience. After the walk, it was about 2 in the afternoon. We went to The Sycamore, a bar built next to a Sycamore tree, and had a few Banks beers. The music was Guyanese, ear splittingly loud and drowning out conversation, the sun was hot and the drinks were cold. A perfect South American afternoon. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Tim, Peace Corps Volunteer in Guyana: September 2014

Tim, Peace Corps Volunteer in Guyana. Monday, September 15, 2014. Living That Guyana Life. Well, its day 3 without running water and only intermittent, unreliable power. I was going to take to Facebook and verbalize my woes a little but then I realized: there are people, some of them very near me and some I know who don’t have water or power at all. I got water last night! When I first got there I felt a little out of place. I don’t really know Iris that well and I wasn’t sure what to do&...My mom taught...

Tim, Peace Corps Volunteer in Guyana. Sunday, May 25, 2014. Here's some structural photos of my house. These are mostly for my dad, but you all can enjoy them as well. It's actually a little scary. A Day in the Life. Hey everyone, just checking in again. Every Sunday I come to the airport for the air conditioning and wi fi, the perfect storm to do a little more blogging. Sunday, May 18, 2014. This is my trusty water filter. I asked the doctor if I could pee into it and achieve 100% efficiency with my...

Tim, Peace Corps Volunteer in Guyana: Scott's Thoughts
http://timsguyana.blogspot.com/2015/06/scotts-thoughts.html
Tim, Peace Corps Volunteer in Guyana. Monday, June 8, 2015. This is a guest blog written about John and Scott’s recent trip to Guyana. I really enjoyed the hot sauce down there. It made most of the terrible food bearable to eat. That’s the other thing. The food sucks. Tim will probably say that’s not true, but he’s pretty skinny now so he’s not to be trusted. Tim, Peace Corps Volunteer in Guyana. Monday, June 8, 2015. February to May, in Brief. Phew, it’s been awhile since I posted but now is as good a time as any. A lot has been going on, almost too much to keep track of but I’ll update you on the big ones and fill in the little ones as you text and email me. Hint, hint. That’s it for February, bit of a short month so not a lot of time to fit stuff in. Well, it’s May 8. As I write this. The big election is May 11. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

A Life Worth Fighting For
A Life Worth Fighting For. Wednesday, September 12, 2012. No Fight, No life. First day of chemo. Today at chemo (day 3). I think it is funny when people tell me that if you get cancer that testicular is the best kind to get since it so curable. Yup its just like being handed a plate of warm, home made chocolate chip cookies. It's still cancer! In the meantime I've been busy at Combat Fitness. It was put in on Sept. 4th and I received my first treatment of chemo on the 10th. To be honest I am quite scared...

Living, Loving & Creating Our Happiness
Living, Loving and Creating Our Happiness. Friday, November 14, 2014. 130 Weeks: Still in it. I'd like to revisit blogging, even if Ivan is always the reason. He's pretty cool after all. If I counted correctly, he's 130 weeks old this week, so here it is:. Little dude might be a hipster. He sure loves that hat (it's mine - he's got a large head). Hi, Aunt B, love the shirt! Home Depot is the place to rock the #TMNT Leo hoodie (from Halloween). He's got to be milk drunk in the last one - love these! These...
