It's actually an Italian dish, but I haven't had a chance to ask any of my Italian friends about it yet. My suspicion is that it has the same meaning because of the shape. Make lunch, not war. Wednesday, December 06, 2006. I read Tom Robbins'. Jitterbug Perfume many years ago and became obsessed with beetroot as a culinary ingredient. Like most, I had only eaten tinned beetroot before and I was pleasantly surprised by the flavour of roasted beetroot. I developed two great recipes out of that obsession and this is one of them. 2 large beetroot preferably with leaves attached. Pepper (freshly ground is best but cracked black pepper will do). EVOO (Extra Virgin Olive Oil).

Juice of 2 limes 1 Lettuce shredded 2 Tomatoes sliced 3 Onions sliced Dry Store. 500g block of firm tofu (not silken tofu and preferrably organic) 150ml Extra Virgin Olive Oil 2 teaspoons of whole cummin seed (I proudly pronounce it as it's spelt) 50ml Dark Soy Sauce (may need a little more if you only have a light soy) Sweet Chilli or Tomato Sauce 4 Bread rolls.
