Daisy II: December 2013
http://daisyii.blogspot.com/2013_12_01_archive.html
Drascombe Coaster: Daisy II (home page). Friday, 27 December 2013. This year's sailing related present was a book about the 2008 voyage around Great Britain. By Mike Brooke in a Cape Cutter 19. I first learned of this trip in January 2008 at the London Boat Show. The stand for Honnor Marine featured the newly built boat Theo's Future. Subsequently, I followed Mike's blog as he completed the trip. Inspirational! A challenging future prospect for Daisy II. So, back to Daisy II. In the mean time, we've upgr...

Daisy II: May 2014
http://daisyii.blogspot.com/2014_05_01_archive.html
Drascombe Coaster: Daisy II (home page). Friday, 30 May 2014. Ascension cruise, 27-30 May. Cruising upstream on the River Stour in light winds, Day 2. Fortunately, much of the very evident, rotten inland weather bypassed this part of the east coast! OK, so the title is a bit pretentious but I was at anchor in the Walton Backwaters, listening to an Ascension Day service broadcast on Radio 4. Just me, the boat, various seals and birds and the radio. What makes a picture? At anchor, Landermere Creek at the ...

Daisy II: July 2014
http://daisyii.blogspot.com/2014_07_01_archive.html
Drascombe Coaster: Daisy II (home page). Friday, 25 July 2014. End of term mini-cruise: 23-24 July. Free at last.(from term time.). Such is the lot of a teacher, summer holidays lead to cruising opportunities the like of which other working-folk could possibly only dream. Reached up the Stour. One can be certain that jib and mizzen will do when speed tops out at 6.5kts in such conditions. Sunset over Holbrook School. Happy for anyone to let me know! Tall ship with copious rope! 201nm, top speed 6.5kts.

Daisy II: Sunday Seahopper action at Rutland Water
http://daisyii.blogspot.com/2015/07/sunday-seahopper-action-at-rutland-water.html
Drascombe Coaster: Daisy II (home page). Sunday, 5 July 2015. Sunday Seahopper action at Rutland Water. Seahopper action or inaction: there being little wind, oars were often necessary. The news on the engine front is that there will probably be a new outboard by next weekend. Yesterday, I purchased a brand new Quicksilver petrol tank with matching fuel line and spent a good hour or so running the engine on the back of Daisy II. The slipway at the Watersports Centre, Whitwell Creek. Before that can happe...

Daisy II: June 2015
http://daisyii.blogspot.com/2015_06_01_archive.html
Drascombe Coaster: Daisy II (home page). Sunday, 28 June 2015. Still, one piece of technology has been added to the boating gadgets: a GoPro, as can be seen from the above video. It's early days, as yet, but I'm looking forward to getting to know how to use it better! The second piece of technology to feature is rather less exciting. I've started a thread on the Drascombe Forum, the first post of which goes something like this:. It then spent a week on the mooring and the next time I tried to start it, i...

Daisy II: March 2015
http://daisyii.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html
Drascombe Coaster: Daisy II (home page). Sunday, 22 March 2015. Fitting out, 2015. Things have been quiet on the blogging front but, behind the scenes, fitting out has been chugging along quite nicely. The first task was to strip back the mast to bare wood. I've also applied a coat of Sadolin to the gunwhales. I still need to do the inner facing side plus the transom. Whatever else gets done depends entirely on weather and time. The plan, as ever, is to be sailing from the beginning of April. She was bui...

Daisy II: June 2014
http://daisyii.blogspot.com/2014_06_01_archive.html
Drascombe Coaster: Daisy II (home page). Saturday, 28 June 2014. Orwell in the rain. Slow moving thunderstorms dominating the day. And, by all accounts, things could have been worse.much worse. The drive back home along the A14 was manic and, on returning home, St Ives had developed multiple mini-floods. As it happens on today's short boat trip, rain was forecast and, whilst it didn't disappoint, I certainly had the best of the day. In a light F3 southerly breeze, Daisy II. Storms then saw me off the riv...
