http://writertechnologies.blogspot.com/2010/09/mortal-kiss-future-of-interactive-young.html
September 8, 2010. Mortal Kiss: The Future of Interactive Young Adult Fiction? This past Monday, Random House UK. Released an "awesome new interactive story on Stardoll" called Mortal Kiss. Unfortunately, technology does little to augment the story. Worse, it already feels dated. The story opens to a map of the setting. Buildings including a police station, bookstore, high school, mall, and several houses are labeled. The evidence bag contains no interactive elements yet. The story, like the clickable wo...

Writers and Technology: Mission
http://writertechnologies.blogspot.com/2010/02/mission.html
March 2, 2010. Although writing is viewed as a low-tech occupation (all one needs is a pencil and paper), the relationship between writers and technology is constantly growing more complex. There are technological tools created for writers as well as tools that writers have appropriated. Publishing platforms are evolving, and many writers are expressing emotions ranging from excitement to uncertainty to fear about what new platforms mean for "traditional" storytellers. A writer on the high wire of life. December 31, 2014. In fact, it was a good enough year that my head, heart, hands and at least one foot are in 2015 already- forward momentum is always a good thing. Or as Jules puts it in Girl on a Wire. With motion comes purpose. With motion comes discovery. But theres a value to taking stock and keeping a record too. And the amusement value of looking back from another year on, as I just did to last years post. GIRL ON A WIRE. 0160;and Release Day. And were just four...

A writer, educator, book addict, geek, and occasional dog rescuer. Jun 30th, 2015. Summer in Lausanne is glorious. Having an active and very mobile nearly 16-month old means we leave our flat at least once a day, often twice, and it’s been a wonderful way for us to get to know our new neighborhood. Around the corner from us, there’s a park with a playground, view of the Alps, splash pool for kids, and a deer enclosure. Collaboration — I’ve mentioned my “secret project” on Twitter ...Novel — The rev...

Writers and Technology: Wordle
http://writertechnologies.blogspot.com/2010/04/wordle.html
April 7, 2010. As a writer, it can be helpful to visualize a story or an article (1) to find overused words and (2) to identify main concepts or themes. If the main character of a novel is named Harry and he's a wizard, those words should dominate a visualization. If the most common words are "just" or "back" or "obviously", the author should probably revise and take a careful look at word choice. I generated the following visualizations by running my previous post on Gender Guessing. Choose all caps or ...
