ARTPOST - White and Cream Pages by Larry Eisenstein

With a blotty brushpen, Paula on a paper napkin at Linux cafe. Linux is at Grace and Harbord and it's just awesome. They make the best gluten free treats. Their own recipes. They are so friendly, the place is super cozy and bright with a big picnic tabled patio in front of the cafe just across from a park. I love it. Go. Now her hair is short, tight and springy, and smart and cute. Her jaw isn't big and hard like in this drawing. She's softer. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

ARTPOST - White and Cream Pages by Larry Eisenstein: November 2010

http://www.artpost-le.blogspot.com/2010_11_01_archive.html

I'm part of a collective of artists called Loop. I joined last fall. This is a sketch of some Loop members at a committee meeting, held in a noisy cafe across from the AGO, to organize our Toronto International Art Fair booth. I also started a new nipple in my Book Of Nipples, but the light was bad, and that's a problem because these are pretty tiny nipple drawings. Bergen Belsen was a displaced persons camp for five years after the war. Now it's a British military base, a launch point for units depl...

The Q&A at loop. Drawing people, trying to make a portrait with good detail and accuracy, while they are moving,. Talking, eating, drinking, it's hard and frustrating. On a plane it really sucks, it's so cramped. Everyone is watching you. They are captivated. They all want to look and comment. It's the best. We all chatted and drank coffee in the sunny front room. Dennis played some guitar, I drew, Sylvia and Julien organized timelines. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). The Q&A at loop.

ARTPOST - White and Cream Pages by Larry Eisenstein: March 2011

http://www.artpost-le.blogspot.com/2011_03_01_archive.html

Next week I'd like to get back to working with my lithography stone and print up an edition of my drawing. It's all ready to go. But the studio doesn't consider me qualified enough to work independently in the lithography studio yet. So I'll have to rely on my friends there to help me out. Drawing on the way to Family Therapy. Sometimes I'd rather get on the subway and draw. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Drawing on the way to Family Therapy.

At Futures with Peter. This is my favorite peice by Peter. I'm going to try to trade him one of my drawings for this. There's a Charles Burns macabre aspect to everything he does. Really kind of campfire creepy in a spooky fun way. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). At Futures with Peter.

Man With Cloud Sample. A Stopgap Museum for Two Man Ray Pears. Unheard music- or half-heard music- being sweeter. Too much too soon. I found this drawing today. It's from 1998. A cloud with too much vivacity- Mayakovsky's A Cloud in Trousers. Part of a Recent Painting. A detail of a still life, with vesel and monumental plant stem. Red Still Life (flowers in a vase, fruit). It keeps everything moving. Left-hand cat and right-hand cat. Pinot and his brother Grigio. The old Pathetic Fallacy in India ink.

Sifting through the Rabble by Eric Farache

The Real Wonderful Rabble. You may have caught Jason Kieffer's graphic novel/guide to the rabble (read: homeless/marginal) people of downtown. If you haven't, it is a great book, you may recognize some people in it. Here is a link to that book. It was at once well received and also seen as exploiting the homeless it sought to familiarize the public with. Personally, I think the book was done from a very honest place, not exploitive. Jason is working on a new book now about Zanta. Cannot wait for that!

ARTPOST - ghost records

All night the wind. Text by Madeleine Marie Slavick. Photo by Luo Hui. For two hundred minutes we are waiting, and still, the eleven year old has not come. In ten more minutes, I say I will telephone the hospitals, maybe the police. One serving stays at the table, and her room as empty as the night road upon which a car is supposed to deliver her home. We try one more time. Just as we look in her room again for the misplaced phone number, the headlights come down the gravel driveway. Photo by Luo Hui.

Ontario Journal by Han Xu

Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Holly Lee: Mrs. Bento's very short stories

A portrait of two plastic bags. She felt compelled to take up a can with no salt. Arriving at the counter, while waiting to pay up, she browsed around and saw many goldenly aged pictures and posters. Right in front of the counter stood a big and prominent one with strong hand writings: Hello Ed, It's great to visit your warehouse. Come and visit mine. Liberace 1970. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).
