Grab a cup and ponder the meaning of life. Follow me on Twitter. Thursday, October 11, 2007. L'important c'est le vert. The French language is romantic in another sense: the sound of its words is said to express or induce amorous love or romance. I believe Filipino can be just as romantic because of the many nuances of emotions that our words can convey. In both languages, the same word ( Fr. Cher/ chère, Fil. Mahal) is used to denote both affection and the attribute of being precious or expensive. A Rai...

Grab a cup and ponder the meaning of life. Follow me on Twitter. Sunday, May 30, 2010. Before climbing the Pinatubo volcano, the three of us spent the night in Village Inn Cabanatuan. At 5 in the morning, seeing the faces of my friends aglow with peace in the inn's garden, I knew that the magic of the place had descended on them too. Later, they would both say it was meeting my family that was the highlight of their trip. Tita Violy and Tito Doc are a blessing to me. One morning after mass in the cathedr...

Anecdotes on extraordinary serendipities from ordinary life. Saturday, October 26, 2013. Camp Benjamin - Day at the Farm. It is a wonderful blessing that we came to know about Optimal Academy, soon after we came back to Manila, last May 2013. We did not doubt that this will be Kevin's new second home, and that he will have an enriching and fulfilling teenage life with them. Here are a few pictures of Kevin's class activities for the day tour. Kids get to take home their plants. For the morning snack, the...

Anecdotes on extraordinary serendipities from ordinary life. Monday, August 26, 2013. A Journey Back to Wuthering Heights. My first encounter with the classic literature. Was in my junior high school years. It was one of the recommended reading material for the juniors’ Literature class, although it baffled me that we never did quite discuss the book thoroughly, but was only mentioned in passing. I actually tried reading it then but unlike. I still cannot feel any empathy to Catherine and Heathcliff's st...

Anecdotes on extraordinary serendipities from ordinary life. Saturday, May 16, 2015. This post resurrects my lost love for poetry. Poems bring to life that hidden voice in our psyche on thoughts, both real and abstract. Last week, I received a special gift from Lau. A friend and colleague. It was a book of poems Things Happen. Written (and signed) by his father Cirilo F. Bautista. The National Artist for Literature. I thank Lau not only for the book, but also for reawakening the lost poet within. My husb...

Anecdotes on extraordinary serendipities from ordinary life. Tuesday, March 25, 2014. Sunny Days (Alvin's Inspirational Speech from the 2014 Commencement Exercise of Optimal Academy). Alvin's speech brought tears to my eyes, remembering the poignant days when we were starting out as young parents for Kevin and Kyla. But it also gave me an overwhelming feeling of gratefulness to the Lord, for giving me a better half who is truly our hero in every sense of the word. This is the transcript of his speech.

My Autism Story: New year: New Breakthroughs & New Challenges
http://myautismstory.blogspot.com/2013/01/new-year-new-breakthroughs-new.html
A blog about motherhood and the joys and challenges of a mother with a son who has autism. Saturday, January 5, 2013. New year: New Breakthroughs and New Challenges. Vulnerability. That is what writing is all about. And that is what this entry is about. I have always wondered if I’m still going back to writing about autism because writing about my child’s condition requires me to become vulnerable again. Like an actor exposing his tears on a big screen for all the world to see. Am I insane or something?
