One Old Cowgirl's View. Of Life on the Alberta Prairie. Newer posts →. May 19, 2016. Life is good (most days). I’m still feeling surprisingly well with lots of energy to fuss over a couple of old horses, my housework, Lilly, Blue, an old cowboy, and one tomato plant. I do wish I could have a garden or a least a balcony with a little more sun but it’s all good. Everyday Blue and I get to go out to the barn and smell horses, my favorite place and favorite smell. One Old Cowgirl's View. Of Life on the Alberta Prairie. July 17, 2015. Saw our first one this week. He was too fast to get his picture but here’s a link click here. Telling all about them in Alberta. They sure aren’t very big, comparable to a large house cat, I’d say. This entry was posted in Uncategorized. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here. One Old Cowgirl's View. Of Life on the Alberta Prairie. His Hand →. July 4, 2015. They seemed like a good idea to me when I first heard it, thinking they would save cows ears. The ear tags get caught and pulled out pretty often which tears the ear. But note that this tag (once put into the brisket on a cow) we found by a tank still in tact, meaning it tore the flesh in the cows brisket when it pulled out. much harder to do and a much bigger injury. Maybe not such a good invention. His Hand →. Border Coll...

One Old Cowgirl's View. Of Life on the Alberta Prairie. Monthly Archives: June 2015. June 30, 2015. Mostly I just lose stuff out on the prairie: cell phones, ropes, hats, and then my cantle pack this year (with medicine in it luckily it was only oxy and only a partial bottle). But look what I miraculously found in the middle of 40,000 acres: someone’s really nice walkie-talkie. Not sure if still works or how to find the owner. June 30, 2015. June 30, 2015. But they need maintenance and here’s why. I apol...

One Old Cowgirl's View. Of Life on the Alberta Prairie. Monthly Archives: April 2015. Happier than a Bird with a French Fry. April 24, 2015. Today we spent all day in a meeting an hour and a half away and went over and signed our contract for the season. Got to meet all the members who are putting cattle out on our lease. It was interesting to see the new beginnings of a grazing association. I don’t think the members really understand how privileged they are to be awarded that grazing contract and ...

Fencing Weather | One Old Cowgirl's View

One Old Cowgirl's View. Of Life on the Alberta Prairie. Our Anniversary →. July 15, 2015. Finally finished the last of the fence checking/fixing for this year. Thought maybe we’d get rained on but it stayed south of the Milk River in Montana. Some of the country is wild and rough like I’ve said before but I like it. And I love the big sky and the clouds and always being able to see the weather coming at you, not just when we’re fencing. This entry was posted in Uncategorized. Our Anniversary →. Enter you...

One Old Cowgirl's View. Of Life on the Alberta Prairie. Muley Holiday →. August 3, 2015. I could never have imagined in a million years how I could ever like living in town (or trees) but this town place we have right now is so cute. I always wanted a front porch, the kind with a roof not just a cheap old deck. And that’s exactly what I have and where I spend most of my time when we are in town. One Old Cowgirl's View. Of Life on the Alberta Prairie. Monthly Archives: August 2015. 45 minutes a Day. August 28, 2015. I had a doctor tell me that getting your heart rate up for 45 minutes a day was a real immune system booster. He asked if that happened for me working out on the prairie and I had to tell the truth and say that my horse does most of the work. Unless things got exciting (never a good thing) my heart rate stayed pretty normal. August 28, 2015. 8221; I didn’t even answer him. But then, t...
