Saturday, July 5, 2008. Does your town put on a festival? When I was a kid, there was the Walnut Festival. It came the same weekend every fall to Walnut Creek. As a kid, I thought I would die if I didn't go. My parents never took me. (And I lived.) They told me it was overpriced, underrated and not worth our time. Ps Mom and dad, you were right. Basket full of meds. My family's journey through mental illness. December 28, 2016. I realize that as my muscles tense, I am making myself smaller. I am folding my body into itself like those funny little potato bugs that roll up into a ball when you touch them. Protect the soft underbelly, you know? But then, unlike the bug who anticipates a predator, I make a conscious effort to go against my nature and mimic a different creature. Am I sighing too much? Has the threat passed?
