Helen House first started offering respite to terminally ill children and their families in 1983, thanks to the efforts of Sister Frances Dominica. It was the first children s hospice in the world and has since been joined by Douglas House. The majority of its fundraising comes from donations and if you consider that it costs approximately 3 million pounds a year to keep them running, any amount that people donate really does help. Bethany was a popular little girl who had lots of friends, she had a friend she was very close to at school, Jessica Randall, whom she loved. Her bestest friend however, was her little sister Melissa. They were very close and Melissa misses Bethany desperately. Our world came to a very sudden and terrifying halt on March 8. To Know her was to love her. A truly special child taken too early. Welcome to our website, which was created as a memorial for our beautiful little girl, Bethany whom we lost on Tuesday 15th March 2005 at the tender age of only 9 1/2 years. First sponsored walk for Helen House in 2005, 'A walk for Bethany', we have decided to make this an annual event and details of this year's walk can be found on the 'walk for Beth' page. Updated 15th November 2012.
