Pictured on the left is a polarizer rotation stage for a precision atomic spectroscopy experiment in the UC Berkeley Physics department. The rotation stage lies inside of a vacuum chamber to set the final polarization of a probe laser for measurement of the energy levels for an atomic beam of dysprosium. The polarizer was placed in the vacuum chamber so as to mitigate any errors in polarization due to the birefringence of the chamber window due to the pressure of the mounting plate. 308 Winchester Bolt-Action Rifle. Soon the first rough Solidworks models were born (note, I'm not offering downloads of these files, as I don't want to be blamed if someone tries to copy my design and gets injured or killed because of it):. Little more than a week into the project, I thought I had complete plans and could begin sourcing material. A design review showed numerous technical issues with the first revision. Enough that the initial design was not worth continuing to pursue. So I started over.

Radial Retarding Grid (or Field) Energy Analyzer (RGEA). The little amber pieces are Kapton insulators to keep the various screens from shorting to oneanother. This probe was less than 1/8 the size of previous probed used in the apparatus, minimizing its possible perturbation to the plasma structure. That said, it resulted in an extremely difficult probe to assemble. Shown is a picture of the assembled RGEAs, with the wrench used for disassembly and a ruler, extra screen/backplate and insulator for scale.
