Birding; a way of life. Sunday, 16 August 2015. Letham has come to life again with just enough of an edge to pull in waders. On thursday there were 5 Ruff, 1 Black-T Godwit, 1 Dunlin, 21 Snipe, 2 Water Rail and a White Wagtail. This morning the Ruff had increased to 8 and a Whimbrel flew over. The real highlight though was a fantastic Otter that spent over an hour fishing oblivious to me. Ferryhill is proving to be a good place for passage Tree Pipits, this bird took a quick rest on the overhead wires.
