http://birdsofshieldaig.blogspot.com/2011/05/meet-shieldaigs-herring-gulls.html

Wednesday, 11 May 2011. Meet Shieldaig’s Herring Gulls…. Anyone familiar with Shieldaig will see lots of Herring gulls. They are noisy and interesting birds, and they can be seen along the sea front, perched on rocky outcrops, and wheeling through the sky. They often land on chimney pots of the houses in the Main Street, from where they shout, 'ag-ag-aag! Presumably to assert their territory. I enjoy seeing them searching around the seaweed and rocks. Wednesday, 11 May 2011. Pied Wagtails of Shieldaig Displaced. For the past few days, Shieldaig residents and visitors have been resigned to the noisy but necessary road works at the base of Ben Shieldaig, with its traffic light system that seems to change at excrutiatingly long intervals. Spare a thought, then, for the hapless Pied wagtails. Cigarette butts for insects. I cannot imagine why any living creature, humans included, would wish to spend more than the minimum amount of time in a supermarket...
