Journals for Christa: Leah, the Unloved Wife
http://www.journalsforchrista.org/2015/04/leah-unloved-wife.html
Monday, April 27, 2015. Leah, the Unloved Wife. Names were very significant in ancient times. They were often indicative of a person’s personality, but for Leah, the names she gave her children and her accompanying comments reflect the ebb and flow of one woman’s life experiences. Note the progression:. Reuben: “It is because of my misery. Surely my husband will love me now.”. Simeon: “Because the Lord heard that I am not loved, he gave me this one too.”. Judah: This time I will praise the Lord. Jacob sl...

Journals for Christa: By God's Own Hand
http://www.journalsforchrista.org/2015/05/dear-christa-now-all-finagling-in-human.html
Monday, May 4, 2015. By God's Own Hand. Now, all the finagling in the human mind can’t change God’s design. The first thing Laban does after he makes his wages deal with Jacob is to remove all the animals that were marked to be Jacob’s and gave them to his sons to care for—3 days journey away. Then, without Laban or Jacob recognizing it, God determined what each new baby animal would look like. Hadn’t he promised Jacob that He would be with him? So, by God’s. Hand Jacob became a wealthy man. I can't beli...

Journals for Christa: Beyond Deception
http://www.journalsforchrista.org/2015/07/beyond-deception.html
Tuesday, July 21, 2015. Sometimes, in fear and at a loss of what to do is just where God wants us to be. Indeed, isn’t it when we have no place to turn and we’ve exhausted our own resources that we totally fall before God and “struggle” with him? And surely all these examples serve as our warning that from generation to generation we will war against the bent toward self deception, which is probably the very worst kind. 8212;the parishioner who doesn’t do anything. Journals for Christa: September 2014
http://www.journalsforchrista.org/2014_09_01_archive.html
Saturday, September 13, 2014. I never wash windows without thinking about the horrible aluminum windows with the nail-breaking storms that were over them that we had for years and years—and the summer I decided that I was never washing them again. It was a vow I kept for years. We never again washed those windows between the storms, not ever. Oh, I’d spray a little Windex on the inside, and Jay would squirt the outside with the hose once a year, but never ever did we really do. Those windows that I hated.

Journals for Christa: God Goes Before
http://www.journalsforchrista.org/2015/06/god-goes-before.html
Friday, June 12, 2015. Sometimes—even now, after all these years of living in the West—I get the urge to go home. Have you ever just wanted to go home? Laban, eventually—after 3 days—heard of it and took after this rebellious son-in-law that he couldn’t seem to manipulate to his advantage no matter how he dealt with him. But, God goes before—before Jacob and before Laban who eventually catches up to him. Esau—surely Esau gave him pause even 20 years later. What about the God of our fathers? Times of peac...

Aric, Kristin, Hannah, and Gideon Bergthold. Wednesday, July 29, 2009. The "BIG GIRL POTTY". Well, just before nap time today we had the first of what I hope to be many successes on the "BIG GIRL POTTY! After all the time we spent in there yesterday, it was a cause for great celebration when Hannah, after a few tears and lots of encouragement, finally decided to give in and "poopy" in her potty chair. Yay for Hannah! Monday, July 27, 2009. A beautiful Sunday morning! Friday, July 24, 2009. As I sit here ...

Busy Little B's: "The Little Red Hen"
http://aandkbergthold.blogspot.com/2010/03/little-red-hen.html
Aric, Kristin, Hannah, and Gideon Bergthold. Friday, March 5, 2010. The Little Red Hen". Today my mom dropped off a box of some of the old books I had as a child. I began to look through it and was reading some of the stories I knew I had once loved, but couldn't quite remember, when I came across one that I just had to share with you. Once upon a time, there was a Little Red Hen, who loved god with all of her heart. She had asked Jesus to be her Lord, and wanted to please Him from the start! I am blesse...
