Ideas, Thoughts, and Observations from a Left-Footed Defenseman. Wednesday, November 22, 2006. Some guy dressed in a massive green parka stood next to me on the train platform. Let’s just say grooming wasn’t a priority for him. I never heard him say a word. Could’ve been somebody on a 10 minute rant on the other end, or maybe a conference call he didn’t feel the need to participate in. Posted by Greg Monaco at 9:51 AM. Monday, November 20, 2006. And listened to her little voice. Cam started flipping the ...

Ideas, Thoughts, and Observations from a Left-Footed Defenseman. Saturday, December 30, 2006. Drawing the Curtain on 2006. Hello druids. The Monaco 3 are bringing 2006 to a close. What a great year! I can't believe all that we've done, and all we've been through. We are constantly evolving, constantly pushing it, never settling. It's exciting, a little unnerving, but always fun. Can't wait to see what kind of crap we pull in 2007. The bartender said the only reason she comes here, is because she's been b...

Ideas, Thoughts, and Observations from a Left-Footed Defenseman. Thursday, June 29, 2006. Hello Hello. Had a decent run around last night on the turf field at Greenwich High. All the schools in Fairfield County are ripping up the natural grass fields and replacing them with synthetic turf. Sounds awful, but I tell ya the wannabe grass is so well made, I don't actually miss the real stuff too much. A police officer showed up mid-way through the session and stopped it cold. Apparently, some grouch with...

Ideas, Thoughts, and Observations from a Left-Footed Defenseman. Monday, February 26, 2007. It’s a sugar-coated land. Everything’s frosted with 5 inches of snow. The sky is an unsettled gray, which shows off the snowcapped rooftops. Colors are hushed; the world’s in black and white. We’re living in a 50’s rerun. We’re supposed to get more powder today. When it snows, it dumps. If the it sticks around for a day or two, I think I’ll pull Cam out of school early and go find a hill somewhere, perhaps...What ...

Ideas, Thoughts, and Observations from a Left-Footed Defenseman. Monday, April 30, 2007. Lactic acid Monday’s are here again. The day after the game, when every muscle and tendon is screaming for relief. Every step is taken with trepidation. My brittle bones are snapping at me. But I did have heart and, in later years, I developed a brain for the game. But, to this day, I work, I run, I stick my leg in there. Most of that happens off the field. Ideas, Thoughts, and Observations from a Left-Footed Defenseman. Friday, March 30, 2007. I’ve been writing for about 15 years. I do it because I love to create. I completely dig the process. Whether I blog, write a letter, or create an ad campaign, I go through the same steps. 1 I get an idea (preferably a good one). 2 I feel a sensation like an energy boost. 3 I decisively and passoinately bring that idea to life. 4 Satisfied, I move on. Posted by Greg Monaco at 8:27 AM. Tuesday, March 27, 2007. I never...

Ideas, Thoughts, and Observations from a Left-Footed Defenseman. Friday, October 27, 2006. I write thee with weary eyes. Last nite I went to an Introduction to Meditation class in NYC and didn't get home until late. I've been on a bit of a spiritual quest over the past year, and I'm sort of stumbling around looking for that certain. I dunno. I had moments of freedom from my thoughts, but they were fleeting. As soon as I'd settle in, thoughts like these would pop in:. Did someone just cut one? I was on th...

Ideas, Thoughts, and Observations from a Left-Footed Defenseman. Monday, July 31, 2006. Opressive heat the past few days. A/C units humming their mechanized tunes day n night. Played some early pick up soccer yesterday with "the Albanians" to avoid mid-day heatstroke. The venue was Stamford High School which has a sweet turf field that's forgiving on aging knees. This was a gross exaggeration on Mark's part. They were actually a friendly bunch. For my geographically-challenged readers, it's on the Adriat...

Ideas, Thoughts, and Observations from a Left-Footed Defenseman. Thursday, August 31, 2006. Chilly 60 today. Considered a jacket, but in honor of the last weeks of summer I had to say no. Jacketless, I write you now. Got a call from my old copy chief at Ogilvy yesterday. Seems he’s in a state of distress. Do you have some time to help me with a heinous IBM project? Good on ya, Andy. Much appreciated. Salesmanship is powerful tool, friends. Posted by Greg Monaco at 12:40 PM. Wednesday, August 30, 2006.
