On the Prairie Diamond: The Weblog of LeAnne Howe. About Howe’s Books. Some Things I’ve Done, Places I’ve Been. Spacetime, Arabizi, and Metaphor over Amman. December 5, 2010. I took this picture while driving to my flat in Amman. That ought to scare everyone! Remember that scene in. 2001: A Space Odyssey. 1968), you know the one where Dr. Dave Bowman (Keir Dullea) looks like he’s 10,000 years old sitting at a breakfast table somewhere in space eating a bowl of corn flakes. Freaky right? Day-by-day I lose...

A Girl Named Turquoise. Assimilation at its Finest. Fireworks, Tobacco and Casinos. Jul 6th, 2015 at 11:34 AM. Im kind of amused with seeing July 4th hangover status updates- the irritation about the fireworks, sentiments which I share by the way. Last night neighbors were setting off fireworks right up next to my car, which is nice. I also saw several status updates from Native people denouncing the celebration as not their holiday. Another sentiment I share. Terra Trevor; River, Blood, Corn.

Sunday, July 25, 2010. The WAN writers retreat was amazing. We started out with locals and then and by Sunday, we had two ladies join us from North Platte and one lady from Ainsworth! It was a great eclectic mix with everyone bringing their various levels of writing experience and life experiences to the table and that is what made the difference I think. My workshop was a hit and the energy is the room was at a vibrant level, this stayed with us for much of the weekend. Ha Ha Bob and Dan! By Sunday we w...

http://maryblackbonnet.blogspot.com/2010_08_01_archive.html
Saturday, August 21, 2010. So, I decided I was going to enter the juried art show this year; and went with my gut as to what photos to enter. I chose five, and two of them won awards! I'm sooo proud of myself! I entered fog and landscape, which I retitled, "Hanhepi waste" (good morning) and that won the Dooug Ballard memorial award! Then I entered Jump! It was the pic of turtle I took at Merritt of her jumping; the sun is shining on her hair (very angel-esque) and her shadow is below her. Perhaps it feel...

http://maryblackbonnet.blogspot.com/2008/08/out-of-sandbox-into-grass.html
Tuesday, August 5, 2008. Out of the Sandbox, into the grass. So, it's been a pretty hellish week around here. I spent the last 48 hours trying to discover whether or not my brother was dead. Yes, I received word on Sunday that he was dead. But, after much digging and calling and a wonderful friend, who is an ex cop. i was able to find out that he is fine and alive. We are still working out the details of the arragements for sister's service. but at least now we don't have to do two. Raw people I LOVE!

Firenze Drawing Club - Draw it! Since moving away from Florence it's been hard to keep up the momentum for Firenze Drawing Club and I hoped it wouldn't disappear into the ether. Having recently visited the city and caught up with fellow doodlers and friends however, I've gained some renewed energy and been inspired to create a new initiative to keep Firenze Drawing Club alive. We kick off today with our first theme: Summer! So if you're interested in our little club or for more information. Labels: #desi...
