The Upright Cyclist: September 2013

Monday, September 23, 2013. The Problem(s) with Bike Lanes. Once in a while, however, I get some education. I learn something new about what folks are thinking and doing out on the asphalt, and what might be done to make auto-bike interaction better (other than banning a large part of the population from driving/biking—or writing comments on web sites). One such educational moment occurred recently. However, as someone who both drives and. His comment was educational, so I am returning the favor. The usu...

Friday, January 30, 2015. Reactivating and a Some Thoughts about Experience and Respect Amongst Transport Modes. I’m finally starting to come out of blog-hibernation, though this would hardly be of interest to anyone. Yet, I’ve been thinking about some things that I would like to share abroad in the Salem thought-world. I get it. I’ve seen it. I’m with you. It is just like the way riding a bicycle. Crisp, clear October skies seem particularly able to hold images against them in etched precision. No other month in Western Oregon experiences such an amount of change in temperature or precipitation. October is a month of alteration and energy. With October’s weather and ...

The afternoon was hot, and this ride didn't draw out as many riders as previous rides, but the few who were game had a great time. We met at Hallman Elementary School in the Northgate neighborhood of Salem. We rode the little ways to the Northgate Park, which is home to the blooming Northgate Peace and Forgiveness Community Garden. Thursday, August 19, 2010.
