http://kathyamen.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html
Saturday, November 29, 2014. GWTW: all you could ever want to know. When I was in Austin several days ago for a very. I managed to squeeze in a little time to visit the Harry Ransom Center. On the UT campus. Long-time readers will remember an earlier visit here. In 2013, but they are always mounting wonderful new exhibits and the current special one is not to be missed. The most striking items in the exhibition are the costumes (some actually restored originals) and I took the most pictures of them. ...

Hometown Tourist: Adirondack history: part 1
http://kathyamen.blogspot.com/2015/08/adirondack-history-part-1.html
Friday, August 14, 2015. Adirondack history: part 1. Upstate New York isn't just rich in scenery. Lots of important history happened up here, too. And besides, just ordinary life in the area has been pretty interesting through the years as well. One of the best places to learn about this everyday life history is the Adirondack Museum. Near Blue Mountain Lake. I showed you this museum's scenic setting in my last post. So now it's time to explore some of its history exhibits. The wetlands up here are used ...

Hometown Tourist: August 2015
http://kathyamen.blogspot.com/2015_08_01_archive.html
Monday, August 31, 2015. I've already mentioned how many lakes dot the Adirondacks, and there are lots of neat little towns, too. Saranac Lake, where we spent a few days, deserves a special shout-out. I've already extolled the Adirondack scenery. Though, and I want to show you more of the town this time. First, here are a couple of closer looks at Lake Flower and some of the fabulous vacation homes that line it:. The lake view from our motel's dock. Not even an Adirondack chair. Links to this post. Hometown Tourist: March 2015
http://kathyamen.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html
Friday, March 27, 2015. Some modest rains last week were nonetheless enough to make the Guadalupe River paddle-able. So we headed to our favorite stretch (Zoeller Lane-Sisterdale) last Sunday*. The cypress trees are just beginning to leaf out, but the birds were in full-throated song. Plus gorgeous, but not-yet-hot weather, and we were in our own little heaven. I didn't notice the really cool contrasting cloud types until I downloaded this snap of the Zoeller Lane bridge. Links to this post. If you're fr...

Wednesday, April 29, 2015. Wordless Wednesday: Bumper Crop. Links to this post. Friday, April 24, 2015. Little trip to the big city. Last weekend I visited my old home town and had a great time seeing old and new college friends. A group of women more or less my age holds these informal reunions every year and I finally was able to attend one. Since most of the weekend was spent with a bunch of old ladies in rooms chatting, sipping wine and eating cookies, I didn't get many pictures to share. Here's a co...

Hometown Tourist: December 2014
http://kathyamen.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html
Wednesday, December 24, 2014. Wordless Wednesday: first trip to LB*! A family favorite since before her Dad was born! Links to this post. Saturday, December 20, 2014. On a visit up I-35 last week we braved the crowds to see Austin's famous Christmas tree in Zilker Park ( there's even a song about it. But then everything in Austin is of course super-cool). There are smaller-scale, and quite lovely, Christmas cheer elsewhere in town, too. Like on Sally's front door. Links to this post. Links to this post.
