Bytown Railway Society
Tender
https://www.bytownrailwaysociety.ca/index.php/equipment/auxiliary/tender
CN 1958 Pontiac Hy-Rail. TNVR Official's Car No. 27. Central Vermont Railway (CV) Tender No. 4264. Railway steam cranes always needed a source of water and coal. This was normally provided by including a tender, usually one from a long-retired steam locomotive. Such is the case of the Society's former Central Vermont Railway (CV) tender No. 4264. 4264 was built in 1887 for CV steam locomotive No. 52 (originally No. 33), a 4-4-0 type. It was acquired along with CV crane No. 4251 in 1967.

https://www.bytownrailwaysociety.ca/index.php/equipment/tnvr-official-s-car-no-27
CN 1958 Pontiac Hy-Rail. TNVR Official's Car No. 27. Thurso and Nation Valley Official's Car No. 27. In the earlier years of the Canadian Pacific Railway, the company was forced to build special cars for its officials as it did not have old passenger equipment to convert for official use. The solution was to design a short version of a business car to use by divisional Superintendents. As a result, 22 cars like No. 27 were constructed over a period of 12 years. Following Car 27's restoration, Society mem...

Last Canadian Pacific Steam Locomotives to Operate out of Ottawa. Notes by Bruce Chapman. From an examination of Ottawa West train dispatch books. This is preceeded by an article by Duncan H. du Fresne. Steaming into Eternity, or the Last Days of Steam Power at Ottawa West. Sort of makes you wonder, doesn't it? But times were a'changin'. December 21st, 1959, saw two 1200s out on the road. The 1271 went east on the North Shore with train No. 74. Once again the engine crew was Leo. Viau and...December 28, ...
A Guide to Ottawa's Railway Heritage
http://www.railways.incanada.net/heritage/heritage.html
A Guide to Ottawa's Railway Heritage. In 1987 I wrote a small booklet which was published by the Bytown Railway Society. The area covered is roughly 160 km radius from Ottawa-Gatineau although this is not a rigid distinction. It has occasionally been difficult to describe a location. The artifacts were originally located by reference to the provincial highway maps. The digital version has presented some additional challenges compared to the 1987 printed version. It is now possible to add pictures but...

Bytown Railway Society
Saturday, April 4, 2015. New Life for an Old Coach, April 4, 2015. It became a day of discovery on Saturday, April 4, 2015, for the Bytown Railway Society’s "Dirty Hands Club" as members continued with the restoration of ex-Canadian National Day Coach No. 4977. Anyway, the original panel – a mahogany faced plywood was in terrible shape, suffering from severe water damage due to roofing issues. So we have no choice but to remove it and replace it with new material. Links to this post. For parts would make...
