The most desperate, and therefore the first, for the toilets in Kirkby Lonsdale had to pay 20p to get in, but held the door open for the 2nd and subsequent piddlers but did not receive remuneration from a single one of them!

Leaving behind the superb ruin of Sweetheart Abbey, the history of which one of the party explained, we braved the bogs, a few too many flying insects and relentless climb to enjoy superb views of the Solway Estuary and the Isle.
