http://ros-readingandwriting.blogspot.com/2015/07/summer-of-eagles-countdown.html
Reading, writing, books and writers. 'If we wait for the moment when everything, absolutely everything is ready, we shall never begin.' Ivan Turgenev. Published Stories, Articles and Poetry. Wednesday, 1 July 2015. Summer of the Eagles Countdown. Since it's now the height of summer, I thought it might be a good time to put my tween book, Summer of the Eagles. At 99p and Amazon US. This was the book I always wanted published, before the current one, The Highland Lass. But Stevie's summer is not what she'd...

A Likely Story: January 2015
http://teresaashby.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html
Thursday, 8 January 2015. January Giggle Blog - Welcome to Ditzville. It’s 6.50 am and cold. I get in the car, switch on the engine and start adjusting my seat and mirrors. I’m due at my daughter’s to pick up the kids and dog at 7, but it only takes 5 minutes at this time of the morning. I’ll have to drive round there holding it in place. Useful husband reappears to find out why I’m still sitting on the drive at 6.58. I’m panicking. I hate being late. He jumps out, checks all the doors and finds the rear...

womagwriter's blog: Are you up to date?
http://womagwriter.blogspot.com/2015/07/are-you-up-to-date.html
News and views from the world of women's magazine fiction. Monday, 13 July 2015. Are you up to date? I won't mention names, but I recently came across someone who, from her comments, was clearly using very old copies of magazines for her research. It might seem like a money saving idea to use the copies you found in the cupboard under the 1973 tax paperwork but it'll cost you in other ways. 13 July 2015 at 10:16. And few publications provide sample copies, even at a cost. I don’t mind paying fo...Yes, th...

http://womagwriter.blogspot.com/2015/07/guest-post-by-womagwriter-carmen-walton.html
News and views from the world of women's magazine fiction. Sunday, 5 July 2015. Guest post by Womagwriter Carmen Walton. My guest today is Carmen Walton. A question I ask at the beginning of my writing workshops is what is preventing your stories from selling to magazines? There are many answers to this but they all tend to lead to one main obstacle that prevents us from selling fiction to magazine editors. Focus. So how do we focus? Look inside the magazines. Determine the age group of the reader. S...

womagwriter's blog: Ireland's Own
http://womagwriter.blogspot.com/2015/06/irelands-own.html
News and views from the world of women's magazine fiction. Wednesday, 10 June 2015. Here are the latest guidelines for Ireland's Own. (Yes, that is me with Sean in the Ireland's Own office. I snuck in one day and he's too polite to throw people out). Material with a seasonal theme should be submitted three months in advance to accommodate publishing schedules. Memoir pieces of about 800 words are quite popular and general interest and historical articles are also used. We have no requirements for poetry.

News and views from the world of women's magazine fiction. Saturday, 29 August 2015. Actually it's more than a rumour. I have it on good authority that Take a Break's Fiction Feast want more one and two page stories. DIANE FORDHAM: UNSOLICITED MANUSCRIPTS
http://dianefordham.blogspot.com/2012/06/unsolicited-manuscripts.html
Words creating images and stirring feelings - powerful stuff! Tuesday, June 19, 2012. It can be difficult to find a publishing house that accepts unsolicited manuscripts. I can't count the number of times I've read 'we do not accept unsolicited manuscripts' or 'we will only read manuscripts which are sent via an agent'. Here are links to publishers who are willing to give both new and emerging authors a chance:. Allen and Unwin - The Friday Pitch. Pan Macmillan - Manuscript Monday. Have a great week,.

M J Francis: August 2014
http://www.mjfrancis.com/2014_08_01_archive.html
Fiction and musings from a SF, horror, fantasy writer in the making. Monday, 25 August 2014. 8220; this is a book in which YOU become the hero! Does this sound familiar? Do you remember being a hero? I still have some of these books – fifteen of them. There’s a copy of The Warlock of Firetop Mountain. Although my excuse was I’d acquired an invincibility potion from a kindly alchemist at a nearby inn on the way to the castle. Honest. A story. Although it was Terry Pratchett’s Small Gods. Now, I’ve k...
