Carolyn P Fox

Sunday, September 10, 2006. Due to a summer spent working and playing hard, I have neglected my personal blog. But I'm hoping with my official return to the work force, I'll begin maintaining this site on a normal basis again. It's hard for anyone to deny, even those who believe we are egocentric Americans, that the world changed that morning. And in many ways it seems to have been in a downward spiral ever since. People hope this anniversary will bring Americans back together. That in some way the m...

Carolyn P Fox: January 2006

http://www.carolynpfox.blogspot.com/2006_01_01_archive.html

Sunday, January 29, 2006. Attended the gala last night, grad school prom. It was held at the Ronald Reagan Center. Upon our entrance, we were put through intense security, three gals in dresses with little black purses, a definite threat. I understand the need, but it is in moments like those one begins to realize how things have changed, even since my high school prom, just under 6 years ago. No one is untouchable. The reality of the world now. Posted by Carolyn Fox @ 6:48 PM. Sunday, January 22, 2006.

Wednesday, June 28, 2006. Detecting deception moving forward. Last fall I worked on an in-depth article looking into the future of brain imaging. The project came from a New York Times Magazine. Article discussing science and technology and how both were changing the future. The project, titled Science Stepping Out: Brain Fingerprinting in the Courtroom. Neither company the paper mentions was the one I focused on, which is called Brain Fingerprinting. Posted by Carolyn Fox @ 12:27 PM. Very few people wil...

Carolyn P Fox: The fade in

http://www.carolynpfox.blogspot.com/2006/05/fade-in.html

Thursday, May 25, 2006. I started interning for the USA TODAY Editorial Page last week. If you want to see what I spend much of my work day doing, go here. And scroll down to Letters. But truthfully, wasn't it great when you were a kid, and you could say you were going to be a lawyer, or a doctor, or a journalist, and it was as simple as saying it and that's what you would be? What I would have liked to know:. A lot of people in the world really suck. And unless you want to become a hermit, there is ...

Sunday, March 26, 2006. A sampling of what I read today:. Be Worried. Be Very Worried." An article in TIME on global warming. Once at the Front Line of AIDS War, District is now Fighting Blind" in the Post. Seattle gunmen was 'very polite'" on CNN. Some days it isn't easy. Some days the world feels all wrong. And there isn't anything someone can do or say to make it right. You just have to have faith tomorrow might not be so bad. Posted by Carolyn Fox @ 7:46 PM. Monday, March 20, 2006. Wrapping up the WBC.

Carolyn P Fox: February 2006

http://www.carolynpfox.blogspot.com/2006_02_01_archive.html

Monday, February 27, 2006. Oh to be a kid again. To chase the seagulls, and climb the rocks, and eat the sand (or at least watch your baby brother eat it). To believe in the end, everyone has a happily-ever-after. To think the president is the coolest guy, other than your dad. To go to a ball game, and pause at the sight of the perfect green field. To see your heroes down there, and not know they could be pumped full of steroids. To have war be something that only happened in your parents' generation.

Alive and Well and Living in Absentia. The Dharma Bum: Part Deux. Wednesday, February 22, 2006. Because I'm tired of feeling guilty for feeling angry. I have lately been informed that my father is having a relationship with his secretary. Ever tactful, he let me know this via my answering machine. (Not the secretary part - my sister filled me in on that one.) In under six months, my dad - who was once my hero - has become a coward, a cliche, and the king of disappointments. Which I am looking forward to.
