Sunday, 27 November 2016. Confessions of an Addict! Hello My name is Pauline and I am an addict. I never thought that I would ever say these words, admit to friends, family and complete strangers, the fact that I have an addiction. And what am I addicted to? None of the above. I am addicted to online jigsaw puzzles! There, I have admitted it and I feel so much better! And, I can put the blame for this squarely on the shoulders of Robs sister Bev! Monday, 14 November 2016. Fish and Mushy Peas! Rob cleans ...

Wednesday, 28 September 2016. Cats, Clouds and a Silver Lining! I am sure that by reading the title of this weeks writing, you will have gathered that cats come into it. Yes, they do. And a guardian angel by the name of Michelle. She decided to stay and Godfrey was happy to keep her, but the first thing we needed to do was to have her spayed. But as you have probably guessed by now.she was pregnant! Last Monday morning (19 Sep) he phoned to say that she had had her kittens! And where did she have them?

Sunday, 29 November 2015. Looks Like a Snake, Moves Like a Snake. I have seen yet. Again, that I am never too old to learn! It made an interesting tinkling sound, so we were both entertained! Dead Hmm, l thought, this looks very much like a baby snake! The head is on the left. See the stripes? Monday, 23 November 2015. Baa Baa Black Sheep. Sorry this is a tad late again, but I have been herding sheep! Or should that be flocking sheep? Wrong In all respects! My little cottage key rings. Now You See It.

Monday, 30 January 2017. Market Day by the Sea! We have a lot of pre-owned cats here in Jacobsbaai. We know that because we have personally homed, loved and put to rest under the bushes in the back garden, three that made our home their permanent base, and we have three more that are now firmly settled, namely Basil, Morris and Kindle! We homed Sage to the nursery where she chats to the customers and tells them that she is never fed! Hmmmm cat or president.I let you decide! Let me qualify that yes. Work ...

Sunday, 24 April 2016. Camping With a Wet Dog! From the title you would be right in deducing what we were doing last week, and what the weather was like! Now that last sentence is not strictly true (you may have gathered that), but they do relax their No Pet rule midweek and out of season. Eventually all was well and off we went. This had been pre-booked for us because I asked for a shady site overlooking the dam so we could sit and birdwatch. The dam with waterlilies. . Refusing to move, they insisted.

Friday, 30 December 2016. Cock a Doodle Doo! Hopefully the title above makes you think of a rooster and therefore gives you an idea of what is coming next? And for those who have absolutely no idea. read on! The year 2017 is the Year of The Rooster in the Chinese Calendar. Supposedly lucky unless you happen to be a rooster. (South Africa eats an average of 2 million tons of poultry a year. That's a lot. I wish I could have said 'that's a lot of bull', but it would have to be the year of the Cow then.).

Monday, 25 January 2016. Following on from last weeks camp out, Rob decided that what we really. Needed to keep us cool and calm, were fans. When we built the house in 2006, we asked the builder to organise overhead fans while the electrician was on site to prevent hassles at a later date. But our builder persuaded us not to bother as he said that the wind always blew and it never. Yes, well that was then. Each year has been getting steadily hotter thanks to Global Warming! And on Thursday they arrived!

Friday, 16 December 2016. Dirt, Dust and Speedbumps! When we moved here nearly eleven years ago. (I have to actually count on my fingers to make sure that I have got it right as I just cannot. Yes, well time has passed and we now have 29 houses in our road! At the other end of the scale, when it rains we have a quagmire that makes it impossible to walk without sliding sideways! Our row of workers! A few days later a team of twelve workers, two engineers and three trucks arrived at our gate! One chap who ...

Saturday, 31 October 2015. Royalty, Roads and Rugby! On that road to Prince Albert we experienced that strange phenomena called somatogravic illusion. And for those of you who, like me, need that explained in laymans terms, it is the feeling that the road is climbing when it is in fact going downhill or vice versa! We were convinced that we were heading downhill, we could see the road dropping in front of us, but the GPS was telling us that we were in fact, climbing! It was a really strange feeling!
