http://eiswideopen.eisbrenner.com/2007_10_01_archive.html
Wednesday, October 31, 2007. It's not you, it's them. (But it's probrably you). A coworker shared this (thanks, Schanel) and it reminded me of a conversation several of us had yesterday.there is a gap between PR people and the people they (we) serve. True, this isn't an earth-shaking discovery; in fact it's been talked about for as long as I can remember. Profession, but to their respective companies. And that's where things break down. For the PR department, who is. The solution is simple (in theory), a...

Thursday, August 28, 2008. An ink blot test for brands. Web-entrepreneur Noah Brier launched Brand Tags. 5 months ago as an 'experiment' to get at people's perspectives - in a single word or phrase - of brands. In other words, quickly, what's your knee-jerk to Brand X? The site compiles all the responses and prioritizes them by prominence. Sort of a real-time consumer litmus for brands. To discover one of the most prominent words associated with the luxury brand is "Chrysler." Ouch. Links to this post.

The first is from Jon Harmon, VP of communications at Navistar. Jon's take. Is that PR's stature as a corporate strategist is earned, and the PR team forms the corporation's approach to strategic communication. Similarly, Mark Phelan of The. Wednesday, May 14, 2008. Something occurred to me today - creativity is a messy job. Kids are considered the most creative, free-spirited creatures around. And they're filthy. I know, I have 3 of them. Their creativity comes through, not because they aren't afraid to break the rules, but because they don't even know the rules.yet. They try. They fail. They try something else. The shrug it off. They get elbow deep. They take risks they don't even know they're taking. Aside from being creative, there's ano...

Thursday, June 5, 2008. Let the octopi fly! It's tough to pick the best story to come out of Red Wing's championship season (4th in 11 years, by the way). One of the best from last night came from off the ice. Long-time radio voice of the Detroit Red Wings Ken Kalczynski ("Ken Kal") was a scratch for last night's game 6 Stanley Cup clincher. Laryngitis, on the night of the biggest game of the past 6 years. Even though he doesn't wear the jersey, he's part of the team. As Ken Kal brings it home. There wer...

EisWideOpen: February 2008

Wednesday, February 27, 2008. Southwest, you rock! Of the two teenagers who claimed they were kicked off a Southwest Airlines flight for being 'too pretty? It made headlines in most of the majors. Typically, a response would be to issue a statement, make a spokesperson available, and put on the 'corporate' game-face. Southwest went another, seemingly brilliant route. They posted a response. On YouTube, which cost nothing to produce and distribute. (Note the irony of the sign in the background). PR has no...
