The Percussion Section –. The Percussion Section -. Playing a proper instrument (well nearly, it was 2nd baritone) in the Riddings Band in 1977, however he knew there was something missing as he broke the valves pressing them down much too hard. As such he made his way to the Matlock band in 1979, but not on baritone! He moved to the percussion section, and settled like a duck to water. He made so much progress that he was snapped up by the Grimethorpe Colliery Band only one year later!
