The trail runs from just South of Florence to Assisi, Italy; it follows the footsteps of the famous St. Francis of Assisi. For those of you who aren’t “math people”, 705 minutes is equivalent to 11 hours and 45 minutes. That’s how long we spent on the trail today! That does include, however, second breakfasts, third breakfasts, lunch, and two “if I don’t get something cold to drink now I’m going to melt into a puddle” stops. The challenges we faced today are difficult to describe, even for a couple of wordsmiths. They say a picture is worth a thousand words, so I’ve chosen two to describe (as best we can) how hard it was today! Yes, there were lessons learned. Lessons about never ever. The red line on the left is the path we were supposed. It was just a terrible path.
