Our matriarch, Mamie Coffee was born May 31, 1882 in Valdosta, Georgia. Her parents Amos and Rose Coffee were former slaves. As was the custom at the time, she married at an early age to Ed Stroman. The children born to this union were Annie Lou, Sally, Lillie, Clifford, Andrew, Freddie and Eddie (twins), Amos and Rosemary. When Ed Stroman died grandmother remarried.
