Sand Into the Ocean: Sand Into the Ocean
http://arenaalmar.blogspot.com/p/sand-into-ocean.html
Sand Into the Ocean. Sand Into the Ocean. Sand Into the Ocean. There is this one idea that I keep on trying to figure out. I once had a conversation with a guy in a café. I was telling him about how terrible I felt about the world. The advertisement is eating our brains! People walk around in life being horrible at each other to reach more success, more money, more power! Our planet is being destroyed! Nature is fighting us back! We need to do something about it! I was in despair. One thing is clear to m...

Sand Into the Ocean: December 2013

Sand Into the Ocean. Sand Into the Ocean. Monday, December 16, 2013. Home Free Birth: Teal Xaman Ek's Birth Story. After Adam and I left Arcata, we went over to the Bay Area for a few days to hang out with his cousins Jacob and Jesse. We then came over to LA, where my good friend Alexandra had found us a place to nest and rest for the arrival of our baby. She generously offered to rent us a room in her mom's housekeeper's house, Josefa, a wonderful Mexican woman from Michoacan. It's the word that Ina May...

Sand Into the Ocean. Sand Into the Ocean. Monday, February 4, 2013. The Way to Paradise: The Impossible Dream. Where is your home? My home is the world, little sister, and yours too! Ah More yellow lines turned the beach into desert, forest, night, desert again. And the desert brought us here. To Chihuahua. Land that was so familiar in the past, and is now so foreign. Wounds heal. The body regenerates itself. Why then should we fear to try new things? Off the Map, many other texts by Crimethinc. At some ...

Sand Into the Ocean: July 2012
http://arenaalmar.blogspot.com/2012_07_01_archive.html
Sand Into the Ocean. Sand Into the Ocean. Tuesday, July 31, 2012. From Turist to Vagabound. I traveled through Mexico a fair amount since I started traveling back in October. It's a great place to travel! However, I never traveled hitchhiking alone until this past month, after Jenny stayed in the Mesoamerican Permaculture Institute in Guatemala and I came back to Veracruz alone. After I crossed the border a bunch of people started yelling at me in English again! He seemed authentically happy. I didn't kn...

Sand Into the Ocean: Full Circle
http://arenaalmar.blogspot.com/2014/11/full-circle.html
Sand Into the Ocean. Sand Into the Ocean. Sunday, November 16, 2014. It's been such a long time since I last wrote. I found a draft of a blog post I started to write 6 months ago and I never finished. A lot has happen in this past year, but at the same time I get a feeling that I have not much new stuff to say. We're almost exactly in the same situation we were last year at this time of the year. It was time for us to plant seeds. We were in Northern California for a while, looking for work. It's a crazy...

Sand Into the Ocean: April 2013
http://arenaalmar.blogspot.com/2013_04_01_archive.html
Sand Into the Ocean. Sand Into the Ocean. Monday, April 15, 2013. The Land of the Free. Because you get what you pay for. Pay a lot of money and you get an expensive life. Take what's free and you get freedom.". Off the Map, Crimethinc. As plans often do, the idea of staying in Chihuahua to start a Food Not Bombs group changed. I found myself pulled once again towards the North, in what felt like a long, confusing Dejavu. I didn't hang out so much with Adam during that gathering. He was intimidated b...

Sand Into the Ocean. Sand Into the Ocean. Saturday, November 16, 2013. Harvest: Reflections on our Life Style. There are so many ways to live life. Some of them are unimaginable for us. Some times we get so sucked into our life-style that we forget that other ways of life are also valid or even possible. At least it happens to me once in a while. We made it to Humboldt county at the beginning of October. Every year thousands of nomads congregate in that area looking for seasonal work, so it wasn't such a...

Sand Into the Ocean: August 2012
http://arenaalmar.blogspot.com/2012_08_01_archive.html
Sand Into the Ocean. Sand Into the Ocean. Wednesday, August 29, 2012. The Central American Dream. Sometimes, before going to bed and trying to see these images clearly, all the stories start to get mixed. Yeah, a dark, dark night after an absinthe open bar in NOLA, climbing a wall to get to the dock on the Mississippi River and the the water, so loud, keeping us away from the big, luminous building on the other side. The weeks and the days and the hours. How long ago did that happen? Central America seem...

Sand Into the Ocean: The Documentary
http://arenaalmar.blogspot.com/p/the-documentary.html
Sand Into the Ocean. Sand Into the Ocean. Ah It's a long story and the short version would just tell you: check out Forward The Revolution. But basically this is my deal:. I graduated college in NYC in 2010. Got a film degree. Had an existential crisis. Moved back to Mexico. I worked in Mexico City for a year, in a production and distribution company for film. So, that's pretty cool right? That's what my friends kept saying because I was working in the industry, going to festivals, meeting people, etc.
