Rabbit Stew: Crosman 2250 Ratcatcher
http://austeritygrub.blogspot.com/2009/02/i-certainly-wish-i-still-had-ratty-i.html
Give Hubert your money! You *know* it makes sense! John Wright's Wild Food. Penkridge Air Rifle Club. Monday, 9 February 2009. I wish I still had the Ratty. I had to flog it to get the cash for a full-power gun that might at least allow me to get the odd, inattentive rabbit. Crosman air guns come from the factory as very basic but highly customisable guns and there's a giant network of people who specialise in building on the basic forms of the bog-standard Crosman. Here's a few links:. Another Rabbit St...

Rabbit Stew: 'Nother day.
http://austeritygrub.blogspot.com/2010/11/nother-day.html
Give Hubert your money! You *know* it makes sense! John Wright's Wild Food. Penkridge Air Rifle Club. Tuesday, 2 November 2010. Cycled to the tiny but rather lovely Newlands Wood. Twixt Penkridge and Huntingdon yesterday. I was out looking for a few late boletes to fry up. No luck, but I did find this inedible but attractive bit of coral fungi - 'Golden Spindles', I think, ' Clavulinopsis fusiformis'. I cycled towards home down the canal path. I then rode on and had a look round Acton Trussell Churchyard.

Rabbit Stew: The big question: .177 or .22 for Rabbit Hunting?
http://austeritygrub.blogspot.com/2009/02/big-questions-177-or-22.html
Give Hubert your money! You *know* it makes sense! John Wright's Wild Food. Penkridge Air Rifle Club. Wednesday, 11 February 2009. The big question: .177 or .22 for Rabbit Hunting? That - a swift peek at any of the popular airgun forums will quickly assure you - is most certainly the question. To cut to the chase, the answer's 177. It seems to boil down to trajectory - the parabolic path that a hopefully rabbit-bound pellet describes after it leaves the barrel of a rifle. It does not. This I learned after.

Rabbit Stew: My Weihrauch HW80k
http://austeritygrub.blogspot.com/2009/02/im-very-new-to-all-this-i-started.html
Give Hubert your money! You *know* it makes sense! John Wright's Wild Food. Penkridge Air Rifle Club. Tuesday, 10 February 2009. The first guns I picked up weren't remotely right, but I think I needed to get them in order to do a bit of plinking and see this for myself. So I bought two cheap, second-hand Crosmans. Of these were going to do the job. What was within my price range and. Good for shooting rabbits? The obvious answer was a Weihrauch. Well, OK then,' I thought, 'why not? Cleanly shortened and,...

Rabbit Stew: October 2010
http://austeritygrub.blogspot.com/2010_10_01_archive.html
Give Hubert your money! You *know* it makes sense! John Wright's Wild Food. Penkridge Air Rifle Club. Sunday, 31 October 2010. Look away, foodies. Spy Birch Boletes under tree (Birch tree, in fact) whilst cycling into town. Pick them, take 'em home, chop up, fry with butter and add a couple of beaten eggs (try not to think about cholesterol levels), cook till done. Serve with exquisite salad of rocket, fine herbs and ciabatta croutons? Slap it onto a steaming lake of microwaved beans? I've put on weight'.

Rabbit Stew: Why a .177 over a .22 for Hunting Rabbits?
http://austeritygrub.blogspot.com/2010/03/why-177-for-hunting-rabbits.html
Give Hubert your money! You *know* it makes sense! John Wright's Wild Food. Penkridge Air Rifle Club. Friday, 5 March 2010. Why a .177 over a .22 for Hunting Rabbits? Wrote in a comment recently:. I'd be curious on the numbers your gun is putting out if you get a chance to shoot it over a chrony. Also, your decision to go .177 from .22 - did you blog about that? Be curious to hear why. If you zero at 35 yards with a .22 there's a variation over, say, 40 yards of about three inches. Can tell if a rabbit i...

Give Hubert your money! You *know* it makes sense! John Wright's Wild Food. Penkridge Air Rifle Club. Thursday, 6 May 2010. Stewing with Prunes and Election Dread. Up at bloody 6am today; the thought of the damn Tories getting back into power startling me awake after a scant five-hour snooze. Bleary-eyed and itching with Election Day irritability; what's to do? Separate stock from herby carcass. Add to now-golden fried onions with veg, meat, a handful of prunes and salt 'n pepper too. Stew at a j...For '...
