Carnoustie Golf Links: November 2012
http://carnoustiegolflinks.blogspot.com/2012_11_01_archive.html
Saturday 17th November 2012. Well it has been a busy two weeks. With the course being shut the last two weeks (Mon-Fri) we have been able to get on with some verti-drain work on greens and fairways. 1/2 inch tines going down about 9 inches and with no heave - straight in straight out. All greens were completed by the Thursday and all the fairways were completed by yesterday. Another area to get some top-dressing was the fairways. Great to get some sand in when the weather is on your side. Then adding a s...

Carnoustie Golf Links: February 2013
http://carnoustiegolflinks.blogspot.com/2013_02_01_archive.html
Monday 25th February 2013. As my camera has finally bitten the dust, i will show you some pics of jobs that have been completed or near enough. Above, we have taken away the astro-turf path that led to the 8th green and installed a rubber mat. The grass will hopefully grow through the rubber mat and give a more natural look to the hole rather than the astro-turf. Here is the 4th white tee. The area is stripped of turf and prepared ready for rough turf. Thge 17th fairway is finally finished. The greens an...

Carnoustie Golf Links: January 2013
http://carnoustiegolflinks.blogspot.com/2013_01_01_archive.html
FRIDAY 25TH JANUARY 2013. The early part of December was very cold with the ground being frozen solid and the daytime temperature rarely above 2. C This all changed during the second week of the month with it becoming being very mild, warmer than average and at times particularly wet, especially so over the weekend 21. WORK ON THE LINKS. The greens were cut once and rolled twice during December and also received an application of fungicide and Iron Sulphate to prevent disease ingress. The approaches ...

Carnoustie Golf Links: April 2013
http://carnoustiegolflinks.blogspot.com/2013_04_01_archive.html
Friday 12 April 2013. Well it has been a busy two weeks. Irrigation work nearing the end. The course was set up for the start of the season, with the new yellow (combination of green and yellow) course coming into play. Ross celebrated his 21st Birthday. Dangerous Jimmy was saving the environment by recycling astro turf mats. A lot of dead puffins were washed up the burn. This was due to the bad weather we have been having. Carnoustie Golf Links: December 2012
http://carnoustiegolflinks.blogspot.com/2012_12_01_archive.html
Monday 10th December 2012. LINKS SUPERINTENDENT REPORT FOR NOVEMBER 2012. November was a fairly mild month with about average rainfall and a slightly higher than average temperature. There wasn’t much in the way of wind therefore the courses didn’t dry up as quickly as we would have hoped after periods of rainfall. The last week of the month saw some welcome frosts which helped dry out and firm up the surfaces which made vehicle access to and from jobs less disruptive. WORK ON THE LINKS. Low area on 9.

Carnoustie Golf Links: May 2014
http://carnoustiegolflinks.blogspot.com/2014_05_01_archive.html
Tuesday 6th May 2014. I was asked by a few people what has happened to the blog. Well the truth is, i havent had time and sometimes when you come in from the course you cant be bothered writing about what you have just done, especially if you feel you are getting nowhere. I also dont want to get too repetative at the same time too! I was thinking i had updated it not too long ago but when i looked it was January 17th! Time for a quick look back at what we have been up to. Other jobs on the go included:.

Carnoustie Golf Links: January 2014
http://carnoustiegolflinks.blogspot.com/2014_01_01_archive.html
Friday 17th January 2014. Happy New Year to you all. We started off this year as we finished off last year - turfing the bunkers at the 4th. The back of the bunker turfed with fluffy fescue. And the walk in with jumpy rye! A mound up the right hand side of the 2nd green. Was turf cut with turf lifted and saved at the side. We then pushed the mound in further to the side to be able to get a little bit more green and surround. You can see the old drill and fill lines. Time to brush up the job. Promote Your...

Carnoustie Golf Links: November 2013
http://carnoustiegolflinks.blogspot.com/2013_11_01_archive.html
Friday 22nd November 2013. Unbelievable tekkers from the guys this week. Area prepared at the 11th fairway with compost. Tramped and ready for the incoming turf delivery from Inturf. Heading out divots was also on the go at the 11th fairway. Other turfing areas were at the 10th Championship tee. Bad operator with a split pallet of turf. The 5th Championship tee is where we have been taking heads out for divots on the fairways. Another tee that was cleared, composted and turf down. Sandy in action,. Saw t...

Friday 18th October 2013. After a sabbatical break, the blog is back! So lets rewind and go back to where we left off. Eric retired and was replaced by new Head Maintenance Engineer Sandy McCubbin. The new tee head starters hut was finally built. Guess who is back.Dangerous Jimmy. The retirement never lasted too long and Jim was back after a two week holiday. He is now classed as a seasonal, working three days a week (maybe working more than he ever did a week). The course was superb. Graden sand injecti...

Carnoustie Golf Links: Saturday 27th December 2014
http://carnoustiegolflinks.blogspot.com/2014/12/saturday-27th-december-2014.html
Saturday 27th December 2014. Well another good year on the Links. We were really lucky with the weather through the summer, that's until we got to the Dunhill Links Championship when it really chucked it down. I have not really been great with keeping the blog up to date this year and i have been trying to the last month but couldn't upload photos for some reason. I am back on track.hopefully! Main job this Winter was to lower the back of the 13th green. A job well done. This also is the case for soil an...
