Dave & Suz's Weekend Romans

Dave and Suzs Weekend Romans. Wednesday, April 1, 2009. The avalanche conditions around Xmas were pretty bad leaving us with valley bottoms as the only safe place to play in the snow. The night before, we were looking at the map and thinking that we might go to the base of Black Prince Cirque but stop there due to avi probability. We didn't go there but that day, the upper slope of Black Prince went class 3. It would have been cool to see it but predicting the danger was reassuring. Suz sprints up a hill.

Dave & Suz's Weekend Romans: Rae Glacier

http://www.daveandsuz.blogspot.com/2008/12/rae-glacier.html

Dave and Suzs Weekend Romans. Friday, December 19, 2008. From the Kananaskis valley, the Elbow valley always beckons us. Guarded by the raw and imposing Mt El Pocca and Mt Arethusa this valley has always been a brief glimps on the way by to somewhere else. At left I've drawn our route from the hiway to the glacier. As we drove through Kananaskis valley, the clouds and fog were lifting as a new system blasted in. But for an hour, the mountains were half bathed in fog making some super views.

Dave and Suzs Weekend Romans. Thursday, October 2, 2008. Trailhead 7239 ft 1st mountain 8758 ft total 9.3km. Pocaterra ridge is the finest hike we've ever done. The trail meanders past golden larches into sculpted cirques, through meadows, to lofty vistas. This has it all including a fitness test of a mountain to ascend before carrying on tip-toes across a knife-blade ridge that finally cured my vertigo. Here, Suz reacts to her position in the world. This spot may be my favorite square foot to stand ...

Dave & Suz's Weekend Romans: March 2009

http://www.daveandsuz.blogspot.com/2009_03_01_archive.html

Dave and Suzs Weekend Romans. Tuesday, March 24, 2009. At the time of posting, its now technically springtime which means I must finish off trip reports as the climbing season begins anew. The last trip of 08 was a solo trip I did up to Mt Allan in the Kananaskis corridor. At left is my route in google earth along with a ruler made of 14 Bessborough hotels for scale comparison for Saskatoon readers. Taking a breather on the ridge crest looking towards the north. And then the doctor. Labels: Mt. Allan.

daviditron: Northover Traverse with Mike

http://daviditron.blogspot.com/2010/09/northover-traverse-with-mike.html

I have locked you into a desired location. Tuesday, September 14, 2010. Northover Traverse with Mike. Mike has an excellent account of our trip to Northover at his blog here. Pictured above in the clouds is Northover, part of the continental divide east of Kananaskis Lake.  It was one of two objectives for what I hope has become an annual trip with Mike.  . 160;After much pondering in the hail, we chose to move it several feet over.  . I don't know how much sleep I got but perhaps 2 hours spread out over...

Falling Down Seven Times. Inconsistently writing about my life in particular since 2002. Wednesday, November 19, 2003. Last week, I had a revelation. As internship/scholarship/fellowship deadlines loom, (Do YOU know what you're doing in May? Yup, I can't wait to leave this province. I can't put my finger on it just yet, but I feel further away from home than I did when I lived in Japan! I can't imagine a worse hell than Toronto. OK, Cairo was pretty noisy, dirty and polluted. I stand corrected.

Falling Down Seven Times. Inconsistently writing about my life in particular since 2002. Monday, November 10, 2003. OK, you guys missed a helluva time on Friday night. I ushered in my 30's like a trooper. But hey, 30 is the new 20, so it's all good. My birthday started out with a bang. Thursday night, I said goodbye to my 20's by hanging out in a park and throwing the disc in the dark. It was an absolutely perfect night. Totally chill and fun. Drinks began at 8pm at Clarisse's. Falling Down Seven Times. Inconsistently writing about my life in particular since 2002. Thursday, October 23, 2003. Speaking of Bangkok, some of you already know that I won a fellowship to work for the Bangkok Post for 6 weeks. The school gives this $3000 award to 2 students every year (if 2 apply) so they can do their mandatory internship in a developing nation. Now, according to the UN, Thailand isn't 'developing' but I made a pretty strong argument in my proposal and now I get to go. Two Green Party ...

I have locked you into a desired location. Wednesday, December 09, 2009. Are you Being Served? This week Calgary was buried in snow causing major transportation problems. The drifts in some areas were chest deep for several days as they waited for city crews to clean them. It was lucky that no emergency services were required in those areas since neither ambulance nor fire trucks would have been able to penetrate the massive drifts. But an institution can be? Is considered a better risk? We mistakenly im...
