After looking through a number of deaf community forums, and reading a bunch of stories about hearies (non-deaf people) either behaving rudely toward the deaf or just plain and simple not understanding deaf culture, we decided to compose an etiquette list for the non-deaf to educate them on how to interact with and perceive the deaf. 1) Deafness should not be considered a disability.
