Bob and Elaine's journey through the Caribbean. Home for us now is the “Mar Azul” (Spanish for “blue seas”), a 1985 Defever 44 Offshore Cruiser. We bought her in 2009, with the goal of fixing her up for future retirement, liveaboard and travels. Here are some basic statistics:. Beam (width): 15 feet. Draft (depth): 5 feet. Speed: typically 7 knots (about 8 mph) max. Sleeping quarters: 2 cabins – 1 queen berth, 1 double v-berth. Heads (bathrooms): 2, one with a small shower. Engines: Twin Lehmans, 240 hp.

Then the cameras were put away until the seas calmed. Have I mentioned that sea travel in a small boat can be brutal? A brief respite on the Chinchurro Bank at Cayo Norte. Cozumel in the distance, and another land mass to help shelter us from the big waves. We were surprised that there was little boating traffic here.

Saturday, October 4, 2014. Rob and PJ’s trawler “C” Y A. At Pete’s Pub in Little Harbour, Bahamas we met Rob and PJ over sundowners. They were cruising and fishing - mainly fishing the Bahamas. Looking at Motivator,. Rob said I bet you have a few RACOR fuel filters on that boat. I responded yes, six to be exact. MOTIVATOR: March 2014

Sunday, March 30, 2014. A Tale of Woe. Is equipped with a UMT International Econ 1000 dinghy davit. It is a metal crane with an arm that extends, raises, and rotates manually to position. The lifting cable is attached to an electric winch hidden within the housing. Not finding any documentation associated with the davit in the mountain of manuals that came with the boat ,. I contacted UMT to find out if it was rated for the dinghy we were considering. Moves the cable ½ inch for every 20 revolutions).
