Developing Mind

And not in the band way…. It’s been seven days since I wrote my last blog post, the first time I slipped up in a month of writing this. Oops. It’s partly because I’ve been too busy, using every moment to push my life forward, and partly because when I’ve sat down to write, I haven’t been able to meaningfully vocalise the last, goodness, has it only been a week? I’ve had a few a-ha moments in that time. That Ted talk. I linked to in my previous post. Enter the analogue system of organisation for note book...

Rules for Life | Developing Mind

https://developingmindblog.wordpress.com/rules-for-life

Here I’m listing the rules for my life that will hopefully guide me through change and self-improvement. I will add to this list, and change/develop anything that doesn’t work. So far, I have three rules, listing things I will no longer allow myself to do:. I will no longer tolerate or allow myself a single. Day where I do not get up, work hard and do more than I think I can. I will not take the easy option. And not in the band way…. A Cure for the Itch? Narcissism vs. Personal Development.

A Cure for the Itch? | Developing Mind

https://developingmindblog.wordpress.com/2016/04/20/a-cure-for-the-itch

A Cure for the Itch? So, I was watching a Ted Talk my friend linked me to, and this. Came up next. Ah. Ahhhh. I was in a click-about-the-internet kind of mood , so I clicked it and started to watch. As I was watching, the thing I’ve been running from emerged from the shadowy recesses of my mind. Tick tick tick tick tick. Tick tick tick tick tick. As it happens, the other Ted Talk I’d been linked to watch was this. Tick tick tick tick tick tick. I should be using those ticks for self-development, my futur...

Now Reading… | Developing Mind

https://developingmindblog.wordpress.com/now-reading

It used to be a voracious reader. Now, I’m quite bad at finishing books. To combat this, I’m reinstating an old challenge that used to really help: Finish 24 books this year,. At least 12 non-fiction. To my shame, I cannot remember the names and titles of the three books I’ve finished so far this year, so I’m starting afresh from now. This is where I will be keeping and updating my list. Currently reading: Tong Robbins – Awaken The Giant Within. Junot Diaz – The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao.

A much lighter post! | GladeriderCrafts

https://notes12.wordpress.com/2015/08/09/a-much-lighter-post

Somewhere I can let out my inner crafter without being labeled as even more insane. A much lighter post! August 9, 2015. So, after the rather introspective post of yesterday (wow, it feels like longer ago than that! I thought you could all do with a lighter post from me. So, here are some finished socks! I know, predictable right? This will probably be my last pair of socks for a while- I want to make a pair out of hand-spun, so I need to get on with spinning that! In 5 years…. A much lighter post! Somewhere I can let out my inner crafter without being labeled as even more insane. I am a 20-something PhD student of mathematics, studying at a University in England. I craft (as I think most people do! To stay sane these days. Currently I knit, crochet and cross stitch, but I certainly want to try other avenues of crafting (at the moment the main ones vying for attention are spinning, quilting and dress-making). Welcome to the Developing Mind Lab. Our lab examines how children develop an appreciation of mental states like belief, desire, and intention, i.e., theory of mind. Particularly, we are interested in the role executive functioning, e.g., inhibitory control and working memory, plays in the emergence and expression of children’s theory of mind. Wednesday, 8 July 2015. Video: A Short Movie on Bears. The more people a child has who truly love him or her, the happier that child will be. Parenting is a lot like giving a hug: It’s all about love and pressure and there is no one way to do it. Sometimes you have to make time for yourself so that you will have energy to give to your children. Allow yourself time to find stillness and so you can be moved by it. Source: Charles M.
