We may be lost, but we're making good time. Our 'venture* driving an RV from Iowa to Alaska. Friday, May 25, 2012. Discovery Yukon Lodging, MP 1169 to Tok, then Delta Jct, winding up in Fairbanks. This is the telephone connection for the. Which is aimed at a mountaintop somewhere over there. Internet apparently comes through something buried as it worked while the phone didn't. The White River. There is no shortage of gravel up here. We occasionally used the other side of the road to avoid rough patches.

We may be lost, but we're making good time. Our 'venture* driving an RV from Iowa to Alaska. Thursday, May 24, 2012. Whitehorse to historic mile 1169, Alaska highway. What an incredible day. For a change we awoke to sunny skies with bonus mild temperatures. We drove about 240 miles with non-stop gorgeous scenery. The route was all at low elevation, mostly about 700 meters (the GPS is set to metric now so we can use it as the speedometer without doing math). A bit of construction to level out things.

Our Anchorage stop consisted of 3 days getting. To Anchorage and three days actually in. Anchorage. We'd heard from a number of people that the city was "big and dirty" but we enjoyed it. With a population of 300K, it's a good size city with all comforts of home (malls, chain restaurants, etc.) plus 9 breweries! It was a 4.5 hour trip to Haines and we spent most of the morning in the galley eating breakfast and watching movies until we docked at 11:30am. The ferry was much smaller than our first one, pro...
