MMB's personal finance journal: Starbucks
http://mmb2.blogspot.com/2006/01/starbucks.html
MMB's personal finance journal. Tuesday, January 17, 2006. Around lunch time I made a quick jaunt to the nearest Starbucks to pick up a bracing cup of coffee. As I seem to have graduated from erratic sleep patterns to not sleeping at all at nights a strong cup of mid-day coffee to bolster me is a must to get me through the day. While I was waiting my turn at the counter I suddenly noticed something. Could it be? Posted by mmb @ 3:13 PM. Seattle, Washington, United States. View my complete profile.

MMB's personal finance journal: Next steps
http://mmb2.blogspot.com/2006/01/next-steps_10.html
MMB's personal finance journal. Tuesday, January 10, 2006. Out of that I plan to keep 140k combined in investments and retirement funds, allocate 40k to supporting my parents and towards emergencies and 18k for basic living expenses for myself. Once that's done I can start thinking about the future. Posted by mmb @ 5:11 PM. At 1/10/2006 7:15 PM. But as you point out, sometimes it is not the company or even the assigned tasks, but the people who make or break a job. At 1/11/2006 11:48 AM. I'm still wonder...

Previous month's report: click here. A- (I feel like saying A for effort but I should have been proactive about the commute situation since I knew it was coming and I should have booked the tickets to Bangalore by now). Thoughts for October: 1. Buy that damn ticket to India, 2. Sign-up for magazine subscriptions, 3. Look at ca...If you ro...

MMB's personal finance journal: Progress (or lack thereof)
http://mmb2.blogspot.com/2006/06/progress-or-lack-thereof.html
MMB's personal finance journal. Tuesday, June 13, 2006. Progress (or lack thereof). The delights of unemployment are myriad not the least of which being the curious absence of the copious free time that you would expect to have during it. Where does the free time go? Posted by mmb @ 4:41 PM. At 6/13/2006 7:50 PM. That sounds like you've got a rejuvenated view of life and a great plan. I wish you the best of luck. At 6/13/2006 9:34 PM. It's nice to see you back! MMB's personal finance journal: June 2005
http://mmb2.blogspot.com/2005_06_01_archive.html
MMB's personal finance journal. Thursday, June 30, 2005. 6/28/2017 account value at maximum contribution = $428,558.93. That's almost $100,000 more in just 12 years. Sometimes it really helps to see the numbers. Maybe it's the way I approach money. When I see $200 I don't think "Ooh. $200. I can save it! I think "Oh. $200. I can spend it." So in order to decide to save something I have to sell myself on it. And thanks to the lovely people at bloomberg.com. Who put up that calculator, I just did. Of cours...

MMB's personal finance journal: October 2005
http://mmb2.blogspot.com/2005_10_01_archive.html
MMB's personal finance journal. Wednesday, October 26, 2005. Is less really more? This got me thinking. Why are we so easily tempted to buy? Is it a matter of keeping up with the Joneses, the power of advertising or is it something else, an urge to be prepared, to hoard like squirrels hoard nuts or the ants stock up before a long winter? Is it some kind of a primitive drive to accumulate material possessions in order to differentiate us from the nomads? Posted by mmb @ 10:59 AM. Tuesday, October 25, 2005.

MMB's personal finance journal. Tuesday, September 27, 2005. Getting prequalified - Part 1. Well, I did it. I got prequalified and I put down the 10% on my condo. My savings account looks horribly deflated. You can just see it trying to cover itself up with the less than 10k remaining in an effort to still look marginally respectable. The poor thing. MMB's personal finance journal: 2005 & 2006 Roth
http://mmb2.blogspot.com/2006/01/2005-2006-roth.html
MMB's personal finance journal. Monday, January 16, 2006. 2005 and 2006 Roth. DODFX - My brokerage is 75% US stocks and bonds so even if I keep all my Roth in a foreign stocks fund I am still diversified overall. Plus, I have had this for a while and it's one of the few that turns in a consistently solid performance. Hmm, that's odd" now tops my list of things you do not want your brokerage rep to say.
