Bloomingwriter: Gardening in Nova Scotia: Gold foliage for brighter gardens
http://bloomingwriter.blogspot.com/2014/12/gold-foliage-for-brighter-gardens.html
Gold foliage for brighter gardens. Hello, fellow gardeners! Where have I been, you ask? Before December, even! We turn to the season of indoor gardening, which includes, of course, planning for next year. When I was a plant science student at the Agricultural College, to see yellow in foliage often suggested a nutrient deficiency or other problem. It took me a long time to embrace the colour gold, or cream, or yellow, in ornamental plants, but here's what turned the tide for me:. Because I went to the Ag...

The Farrm: Summer harvesting 2012
http://thefarrm.blogspot.com/2012/08/summer-harvesting-2012.html
Tuesday, August 14, 2012. The garden is on the back-burner this summer, I'm afraid to say. But the things I planted in early spring are ready to harvest and doing well,. Notice the boy with his mothers lucky machete. Waiting in the shade. A couple whacks, and Voila! Broccoli as big as your head! Cabbage is a winner as well, we harvested 4 heads and have 9 more to go. But harvesting the garlic I planted during a mild week in December. Organic Inchelium Red Garlic. I sowed 3 bulbs worth and reaped 42!

Bumble Lush Garden: Summer Vegetable Garden Recap
http://bumblelush.blogspot.com/2013/10/summer-vegetable-garden-recap.html
Eat Local" Food Challenges. Sunday, October 6, 2013. Summer Vegetable Garden Recap. It's been a while. The plan worked like a charm and has been manageable with our limited time at home. We just pulled these beautiful yellow bell peppers yesterday. We've harvested more jalapenos, serranos, and habaneros than we can eat, so we've given some away. All of the hot peppers have had a lot of heat, more than in other years. I wonder if the milder temperatures and plenty of rain helped? Labels: grown from seed.

Bumble Lush Garden: The Low Maintenance Garden
http://bumblelush.blogspot.com/2013/07/the-low-maintenance-garden.html
Eat Local" Food Challenges. Sunday, July 28, 2013. The Low Maintenance Garden. I wasn't able to start many seeds this year for my edible garden, so we bought a few transplants instead. This year's low maintenance garden consists of only 15 plants, about half the number I usually have. Instead of planting squash, cucumber, beans, and other vegetables, I decided to keep it simple and focus on just two items for my kitchen garden this summer: tomatoes and peppers. How is your summer edible garden doing?
