Pacific Coast ESB Tour: Winchester Bay to Bandon

http://esbtour.blogspot.com/2008/09/winchester-bay-to-bandon.html

Pacific Coast ESB Tour. Saturday, September 13, 2008. Winchester Bay to Bandon. 53 miles, 2450 feet of climbing, a bad day for the animals (3 furry things, 1 raccoon, 1 possum, 1 kitty :-(, 1 crow, 1 snake, 1 hawk). I don't think so. We were very lucky to find a nice room just 1/2 mile back north - into the wind. If we had to bike north into this wind all day, we'd be heading back to Seattle via bus, train, plane, you name it. Anything to avoid the wind. THANKS for the video clip - loved it! San Francisc...

Pacific Coast ESB Tour: TuTuTun Lodge to Crescent City, CALIFORNIA

http://esbtour.blogspot.com/2008/09/tututun-lodge-to-crescent-city.html

Pacific Coast ESB Tour. Monday, September 15, 2008. TuTuTun Lodge to Crescent City, CALIFORNIA. 65 miles, 2700 feet of climbing, not much road kill (2 possums, 1 raccoon, 1 snake). Today reminds of a line from a favorite book: “Things must improve”. Our day started at the Tu Tu Tun Lodge and the delivery of fresh squeezed orange juice and hot coffee at 7:15am. This was followed by a “Michael Phelps” style breakfast of eggs, potatoes, bacon, and toast. This was helpful for trying to stay warm. As scary as...

Pacific Coast ESB Tour: Cambria to San Luis Obispo

http://esbtour.blogspot.com/2008/10/cambria-to-san-luis-obispo.html

Pacific Coast ESB Tour. Thursday, October 2, 2008. Cambria to San Luis Obispo. 385 miles, 1300 feet of climbing, no road kill. Today's ride was a super fast, easy ride down the coast and inland to SLO. Beautiful scenery and easy riding. We are glad to be done with the loaded touring though looking forward to a number of rides without weight on our bikes before heading back to Seattle. We think we are making a good decision to stop here as the traffic will start to become much, much worse once we get ...

Pacific Coast ESB Tour: Marina to Big Sur

http://esbtour.blogspot.com/2008/09/marina-to-big-sur.html

Pacific Coast ESB Tour. Tuesday, September 30, 2008. Marina to Big Sur. 405 miles, 2550 feet of climbing, NO ROAD KILL. We have a theory on the lack of road kill - it is simple, actually. If you've already killed all of the animals, well, there isn't much left to kill. We also have a real treat for where we are staying. If you go to Big Sur, check out the Glen Oaks Motel. Sadly, our plans fell through for Cambria so we aren't sure what our next two days look like. 110 miles to San Luis Obispo - we'll...

Pacific Coast ESB Tour: San Mateo to Costanoa (10 miles north of Davenport)

http://esbtour.blogspot.com/2008/09/san-mateo-to-costanoa-10-miles-north-of.html

Pacific Coast ESB Tour. Sunday, September 28, 2008. San Mateo to Costanoa (10 miles north of Davenport). 50 miles, 3500 feet of climbing, road kill report soon. We also considered this our "make-up exam" for our shuttle day when Arn had a broken spoke. The Adventure Cycling Route has you travel from SF to our location today staying on the coast. Instead, we rode inland yesterday followed by a crossing of the coast mountain range today. Our "make-up" crossing of the coast mountains. Marina to Big Sur.

Bicycle Travels: September 2008

http://bicycletravels.blogspot.com/2008_09_01_archive.html

With Don and Geralynn. Saturday, September 27, 2008. Day 10 Stinson Beach - Sunnyvale 66 mi. I love it when a plan comes together- well, almost. The last morning of the trip arrived and we got packed up and off to the bus stop. Don had planned out the timing for everything so we would miss the commute in the morning and the afternoon. But, when the bus arrived at the stop, the bike rack was full, so we ended up riding our bikes instead. Tourists, weaving back and forth across the walkway, gaping at tower...

Bicycle Travels: Day 03 RAIN DELAY IN GARBERVILLE 9.5mi

http://bicycletravels.blogspot.com/2008/09/day-03-rain-delay-in-garberville.html

With Don and Geralynn. Friday, September 19, 2008. Day 03 RAIN DELAY IN GARBERVILLE 9.5mi. We slept quite well at the Riverwood Inn and woke the next morning to drizzle and gray skies. We suited up in our rain gear, packed up our belongings and headed out to Garberville for breakfast. As we rolled along it began to really rain and we could hear rolling thunder in the forest. When we got to Garberville we stopped at the Best Western. So, for the day we only cycled 9.5 miles, but we still felt that we ...
