Starting something new | Fabricfan's Blog

Just another WordPress.com weblog. I sorted out my lace a couple of weeks ago, I think I found it all. I have been collecting for years, use a little tiny amount when I was making dolls. I bought some each time I found something interesting. Christine’s. Lingerie used to be manufactured in West Vancouver and once a year she would have a big sale and that included her fabrics and laces. I was usually a cheapskate and would get a grab bag of lace, or silk or chiffon offcuts. The list of things to do. Fill ...

Just another WordPress.com weblog. A couple of Presto tops. In January I decided to make a couple of tops. I chose the Presto top by Coco Savage. I made a size large and the first one I made was the burnout cotton/poly? Shams at Communing with fabric has also made the top a few times. I will be making it again. I love a nice tried and true pattern. Bunnies and more socks. I made my third pair of bunnies, just took me until after Easter to get them done. So that is a total of 6 now and I think I am do...

Just another WordPress.com weblog. I will make straps and use rivets to attach them to the metal rings and the bag. My colours aren’t the greatest but will try for some outdoor photos when the pieces are done. It is hot and dry. Jun 22, 2015. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here. Just another WordPress.com weblog. I love wearing cotton blouses in the summer and I wanted a better fit this year. So I selected Butterick 6085. Short sleeves, button front, simple collar and shirt tails. I adjusted for a full bust and left out the vertical darts. The second blouse I added a couple of slashes to my sleeve pattern. The dotty cotton in the same colours as the plaid, so really 2 blouses, with 3 pants in dark blue, lighter blue and green. So 5 pieces i my six pack. The third blouse I only h...

Just another WordPress.com weblog. It is hot and dry. My mom used to take the ironing outside under a shady tree and the sewing machine went outside as well. I have done both but I I would rather stay in front of the fan sipping ice tea. I have been drying my clothes outside. Two rayon batik dresses McCall’s 6465. Jun 30, 2015. I love the idea of sewing and ironing outside but it would just not be worth the hassle here in London. And we don’t have an outside space anyway. Leave a Reply Cancel reply.

Seams Well: November 2014
http://seamswell.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html
Sewing Adventures and Day Dreams of Them Plus some Opinions Here and There. Saturday, November 22, 2014. Vogue 9060 - Love this Tilton Skirt. I have wanted to make this skirt for several weeks, but just had too much of "life" going on to give it any attention. It's now finally complete! I have several black tops that I think will work with it, and I'm hoping a red Tea Garden Tee (pattern shown below) that I made years ago will work with it. I haven't taken the time to check the reds together. Not me, of ...

Seams Well: Two Tops
http://seamswell.blogspot.com/2015/02/two-tops.html
Sewing Adventures and Day Dreams of Them Plus some Opinions Here and There. Monday, February 09, 2015. These two knit tops were completed within the last two weeks. Just had no motivation to get photos. This was a no make-day so I look pretty washed out. Not good, but at least photos are done. If I remember correctly, this is a straight size M out of the envelope. It seemed like a good fabric to use as a "muslin" for this pattern that so many in blogland are raving about. I like them both! I like these s...
Seams Well: March 2015
http://seamswell.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html
Sewing Adventures and Day Dreams of Them Plus some Opinions Here and There. Thursday, March 05, 2015. Winter in Texas and Vogue 8859. Knowing that the northeastern U.S. has been on winter overload this year, we, here in Texas, have been having a colder, more out of the ordinary winter than our normal Texas winters. In years past, I've had plants already growing in my vegetable garden. Not so this year. A zoom in of that same tree shows the bird feeder and the birds having some breakfast. They hit right w...

Hookin, Knittin and Livin. Tuesday, December 31, 2013. Not having been around since August (! I thought I could put on my best sheepish grin and tip-toe on to the blogger stage. I am, I hope, back for a while. I have missed everyone coming to visit. I have visited many of you but rarely speak up. So, here`s to a brand New Year! The back end of 2013 has been busy in other places. Not to say it`s been a bad year.no sir-ee! A visit to Spokane which was an enjoyable surprise. My favorite part of the PNE.

This photo is a lot like last week's. The photo is taken in the living room of that house that I mentioned a while ago. If I close my eyes, I can imagine the photo in color. A lot of creams and greens with brown and gold. These earth tones were my mother's favorites. Can you guess? Sunday, October 21, 2012. Sunday Wonders - P. I fou...

fabric fallow - Home
Fabric Fallow is a new venture that made its debut at the Wadhurst Country Fair on Saturday 27th June 2015. I was a little nervous about how my fabric taxidermy heads would be received but I was overwhelmed by the positive response and people's enthusiasm for my product. That urged me to take the next step and take my heads to the Internet. Create a free website.

Fabricfan's Blog | Just another WordPress.com weblog
Just another WordPress.com weblog. I started blogging in October of 2005. I have had 3 blogs and they are now consolidated into this one so just over 500 posts. Then came yahoo groups, more dolls, polymer clay, ATC and knitting groups and eventually Ravelry. I took art lessons from Suzi Blue and took another art course as well from Sue Bleiweiss. I have forgotten a lot of the courses that I took. The journal cover was made before 2008, using a crumpled brown paper bag. I was guilty of these things as well.
