Welcome to FaintFuzzies.com

The name of this website was inspired by my passion of observing very faint deep sky objects under dark skies. They appear as Faint Fuzzies even in large telescopes, such as my 22" and 30" reflectors, even in my friend's 48" reflector. Just released for beginner and intermediate observers: Three Herschel observing guides covering about 1,100 objects visible in 6" to 10" telescopes. To get an example of what you can see through a large telescope, check out my Observing Reports.

22" f/4.0 with Pegasus Optics. The original intent for the black knobs on the bearing was to allow removal of the bearings for transport of the mirror box in a trunk of a sedan. 22" f/4.0 sitting on a prototype Crossbow platform. For the first time ever. Used it and it works great. Tracks for 60-70 minutes and runs on a 9-volt battery, which last 12-14 hours per battery. The 22" reflector packed in the Volkswagon New Beetle vehicle. Left rear: Rocker box and mirror box with the upper cage. Jimi's 48" f/4...

Links (many are being added at this time). Truss Telescopes (16" or larger). Optically excellent telescopes. Rick offers very fast telescopes (f/3.6 and f/3.3) along with the standard f/4.0 to f/4.3. Zambuto and Lockwood are the primary mirror makers for these telescopes. I own a 30" Starmaster. OMI (Optical Mechanics) EVO-30. All metal 30" telescope built by OMI. I played with it at TSP '09. Very stiff scope. Excellent custom truss telescopes, specialize in long focal length planet killer Newtonions.

Back to Observing Reports. April 16, 2012 at Ft. Davis. NELM 7.0 to 7.5 variable as sky glow due to higher than normal solar activity. 48 f/4.0 reflector. 10 and 6mm ZAO-II, 10mm Delos, 8mm TMB Supermonocentric. I've decided to make. A run of some of the Hickson Galaxy groups with my friend's 48" reflector as I have not seen all members with my smaller scopes. The coordinates listed represents the approximate center of the compact group. Hickson 39 in Hydra. Stellar cores in all components except C.
