A journal of our adventures for friends and family. Sunday, October 28, 2012. Who needs an MBA when you have housework and Halloween? The Crew from the The Lost Ship. Photo by Emily. Links to this post. Monday, October 15, 2012. In the meantime I'll carry on wittering along here until we all lose interest, I'm eaten alive by mozzies or Blogger (the blog platform I use here) implodes in a hissy-fit of blogging overkill and shuts itself down. . Links to this post. Sunday, October 7, 2012. That the Baker h...

joining the dots: February 2013
http://ijointhedots.blogspot.com/2013_02_01_archive.html
A journal of our adventures for friends and family. Friday, February 1, 2013. It has become completely apparent during the past week that trying to write 2 blogs is insane. What was I thinking? Well I know what I was trying to do: Neatly compartmentalise my life - family over here, cooking over there, big ribbon on top. In trying to work out how I was going to manage all of this and turn the new blog Island Family. Well that certainly gave me some food for thought. So just like a normal blog, in other wo...

joining the dots: Make the apron
http://ijointhedots.blogspot.com/2013/01/make-apron.html
A journal of our adventures for friends and family. Tuesday, January 15, 2013. The famous apron 'pin'. Funny thing is, is that my 'artisanal apron pin' is by far my post popular repinned- pin (I do realise that I'm speaking double-dutch for some. Please bear with me) which must mean that most people are just like me ie. armchair artisans. PS When silly old Blogger is working properly again I'll post a picture of the said apron. Bet you can't wait. Shall I post one of the slippers, too? My name is Julia a...

joining the dots: March 2012
http://ijointhedots.blogspot.com/2012_03_01_archive.html
A journal of our adventures for friends and family. Friday, March 9, 2012. Grade 3B Working Hard. Nobody ever says how much they enjoy moving, do they? The never-ending tediousness of it all as you frantically stuff your life into black bin-liners (only to wait 5 hours for the removals people to pitch up). It’s just s. Omething that has to be got through. One’s own little private hell and misery for a few days. So the safety net has been taken away and as from Saturday 17. Our Carrot Bay house is really ...

joining the dots: Christmas catch-up
http://ijointhedots.blogspot.com/2012/12/christmas-catch-up.html
A journal of our adventures for friends and family. Sunday, December 30, 2012. This is how I did NOT look. Without a doubt the lowest point was having to go to a rather smart party in seriously grubby work clothes - in my case with a 'doek' in my hair, no make-up, tiny shorts, no bra (don't even ask why) and my oldest flip flops. So much for my 500 'pins' I've carefully been curating on 'My Island Style' Pinterest board featuring elegant white dresses, coral jewellery and jewelled sandals. Ha! Happy New ...

joining the dots: November 2012
http://ijointhedots.blogspot.com/2012_11_01_archive.html
A journal of our adventures for friends and family. Saturday, November 24, 2012. I'm home after nearly 3 weeks away on business. I need to state this right up-front (that I was on business that is) as I was asked a couple of times whilst away if I was enjoying "semi-retirement"? We really do live in a backwater here and so I like going out into the big wide world, only to return again. I always get terribly smug when asked "which hotel" when arriving back in the Caribbean and am able to reply "I live...

We are still on track for our 5 September opening. Epic. Links to this post. Growing up in the west indies. Monday, August 13, 2012. Post Festival Summer Mix.

joining the dots: Island Family
http://ijointhedots.blogspot.com/2013/01/baby-steps.html
A journal of our adventures for friends and family. Wednesday, January 23, 2013. OK, I've done it. I've just finished one of the first of many "to do's" on the 2013 List and have finally set up the bakery blog. It's dead simple as I've had enough of tinkering around with flipping blog settings and whatnot, so it will be gussied up in time. For the moment then, here it is . Click here for link) . The other idea is to start migrating readers (now over a 1000 ) on to Island Family. My name is Julia and Im a...

joining the dots: May 2012
http://ijointhedots.blogspot.com/2012_05_01_archive.html
A journal of our adventures for friends and family. Monday, May 28, 2012. We finally have the keys to our bakery, all ready for fit-out which should take a couple of weeks. It is tiny, as you can see above, but it's ours! Double blue doors, to left of Tylers white Nissan. Big Baby in New York, pre shipping. Another big push for a month or so will have us happily ensconced in both our completed home and the bakery. The kids will be on their long Summer holidays and another year would have passed, maki...
