a stitch in time: December 2013
http://stitchsarah.blogspot.com/2013_12_01_archive.html
A stitch in time. Some of my time is in stitches. Waking early, refreshed, easily. A tiny kitten for company. Yoga outdoors for an hour. Walking to the beach and back over a big hill - hard work but easy too. Making art from scraps. Visiting the Art Gallery - blown away by Hotere. Meeting up with a series of beloved friends. Receiving a delightful gift. Contemplating an emotional challenge, moving toward resolution. Drinking a single glass of superb wine. Resting in peace in beautiful surroundings. How t...
Dancing Threads: I'm on TV!
http://cindihuss.blogspot.com/2010/12/im-on-tv.html
Of thread and dancing and all the other little things that make life worth living. Tuesday, December 7, 2010. I joined Morgan King in the studio of Johnson City (TN) channel 11's Daytime Tri-Cities. Today this morning and had a great time. I met P. Buckley Moss, savored some exquisite truffles from Jan Charles the Thrillbilly Gourmet, listened to the dulcet tones. Of a barbershop quartet from Appalachian Express (they couldn't have chosen a better song), and gave an interview re: my artwork. I use hand-d...

Anyhow, as you can see I'm excited that Kingsport has what is shaping up to be a fabulous independent quilt shop. They also have an amazing classroom . . . where I'll be teaching. So . . . April 16, 23, 30; May 7. 10 am-2:30 pm (we'll take half an hour at noon for lunch). Boot camp for quilters—but so much more fun! I use hand-dyeing...

Dancing Threads: New Year's Resolution
http://cindihuss.blogspot.com/2012/01/new-years-resolution.html
Of thread and dancing and all the other little things that make life worth living. Saturday, January 14, 2012. All righty- my new year's resolution is to post at least once a week. There- right out there where folks can see it. Currently I'm on the last step (well, second to last if you include finishing the edges) of my all-by-hand commission. It has taken longer than I expected, but I am pretty pleased with the results. However, Sharon gets to see it first, so no spoilers here. Wow, Lynda- thanks!

a stitch in time: abundance
http://stitchsarah.blogspot.com/p/abundance.html
A stitch in time. Some of my time is in stitches. The Quilts of Abundance. The Box of Abundance holds a fairly random mixture of approximately shirt-weight cottonish fabrics from (I think) the middle 1980's. My - self-imposed - challenge is to use it to make quilts for a big patchwork group's community quilt donation programme. Black Abundance - a mixture of horrible geometric prints of primary colours on white. Randomly chopped and reassembled with a little red and a lot of black. Given! Joanne Mattera ...
a stitch in time: seed words
http://stitchsarah.blogspot.com/p/seed-words.html
A stitch in time. Some of my time is in stitches. These might one day be quilts - titles sometimes come before images. Called by some chemistry of honey and musk - A.S. Byatt : something yellow/brown. Warriors against oblivion - something with the metal pieces on grey. The push against the beyond begins - Patiann Rogers. The avoidance of unreason. Ways to say No with no ending. The ones who refuse to survive themselves. Love goes in and out, friendship is forever. Florals behind the barbed wire set?
Dancing Threads: The Art of Education
http://cindihuss.blogspot.com/2010/12/art-of-education.html
Of thread and dancing and all the other little things that make life worth living. Friday, December 10, 2010. The Art of Education. I volunteered for the Ellis island simulation at my youngest's elementary school yesterday. This simulation was for the 4th and 5th grade classes. Of course they spoke about this all beforehand so the students knew not to take it personally. Today they find out who got enough stars to enter America. However, they didn't really feel it until yesterday. The Underground Railroa...
