Fifty Plus Travel: Hot air ballooning: Up, up and away in Turkey and Myanmar!

Monday, 8 June 2015. Hot air ballooning: Up, up and away in Turkey and Myanmar! Have you ever been hot air ballooning? Despite the cost, the greatest thing I had to overcome was my fear of heights, the old vertigo I've suffered from forever! What a world was opened up to me when I finally realised my dreams and that first take off was so quiet and awe inspiring, that I was instantly an addict! Ballooning over Goreme's fantastic caves and landscape in Turkey! 65279;. Central Bagan was the capital of t...

Fifty Plus Travel: La Sagrada Familia: Gaudi's Gift To the World.

http://www.fiftyplustravel.blogspot.com/2015/07/la-sagrada-familia-gaudis-gift-to-world.html

Saturday, 1 August 2015. La Sagrada Familia: Gaudi's Gift To the World. Ah, Barcelona, the very name evokes that beautiful city with its tree lined Las Ramblos, where you can stroll down that long wide street feasting on local foods, markets, ices and popping into every shop you can imagine, satisfying the senses and enjoying a vino or two! Only donations and entry tickets provide the money to complete this amazing structure. The amazing "umbrella" of lights overhanging the altar area. Looking upwards to...

Surely Sarah: March 2015

http://surelysarah.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html

Tuesday, March 17, 2015. I'm currently in my second week of leave from work. Like most of my work "holidays", I'm not actually "going away" on holiday, just hanging out at home. I believe the trendy word is "Staycation". So what did I intend to do with my free time? Of course I wanted to be "productive", and "get stuff done". You know, all those things you never seem to have time to do when you're working full time? Today I am sick. Yesterday I woke up with a sore throat and by last night I was fully...

Surely Sarah: April 2015

http://surelysarah.blogspot.com/2015_04_01_archive.html

Thursday, April 30, 2015. Musings of a Plus Size Thrifter. On the weekend, my cousin and I went to the "Wardrobe Warriors" market at Mt Gravatt show grounds. I understand some enterprising plpeople organize this every few months and I certainly applaud the idea. Anything that gets consumers considering shopping secondhand is a good thing in my book as you know, dear reader! Now, this is not the fault of the market. The stalls in the day depend on the people who a) hear about it; and b) want to sell.

Surely Sarah: November 2014

http://surelysarah.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html

Thursday, November 27, 2014. Op Shops of Brisbane: Vinnies Eagle Junction. Op Shops of Brisbane is a series where I talk about charity shops I go to. Feel free to suggest a good one to me - I live on the north side but have been known to drive great distances for a good browse! Situated on the main road, parking is off street or across the road at the shops near the train station. Though a small shop, I found it to be packed with goodies! I highly recommend a look at this op shop if you're in the area - ...

Monday, July 27, 2015. Zenning Out in the Japanese Gardens. A few Saturdays past on a trip to Toowoomba, we decided we wanted to do a photography walk. Foiled by lack of information about the street art I had heard abounds in the CBD and put off a walk up historic Russell St by the cold wind, we opted for the sheltered, calm and beautiful Japanese Gardens. The gardens are a real city treasure and you can find them in the grounds I the Universiy of Southern Queensland. Just look for the big red gates!

Surely Sarah: Travel Essentials You Can't Pack in Your Suitcase

http://surelysarah.blogspot.com/2015/08/travel-essentials-you-can-pack-in-your.html

Monday, August 3, 2015. Travel Essentials You Cant Pack in Your Suitcase. These days, the average person will know the basics of international travel. Roll your clothes, take an emergency outfit in your carry-on, layering for the plane etc. But what about preparing your attitude like you do your luggage? These are my favorite things to mentally. Pack when headed over the ocean blue:. 1 An Open Mind. 2 A Sense of Adventure. I heard once there's an unofficial second motto of the US Marines: "Semper Gumby"&...

Surely Sarah: May 2015

http://surelysarah.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html

Wednesday, May 27, 2015. Sarah Suggests: May 2015 Edition. I've been watching a lot of TV lately. Why? Because there's so much on that's good. I'm trying to watch less "crap" (a fluid definition based purely on personal judgement! And finding that shows I would have found dead boring when I was younger hold much more fascination. However, my suggestions today are based purely on entertainment value! The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. So that's a few of the things I've been devoting my eyeballs to lately....

Wednesday, December 24, 2014. The Ghost of Christmas Past. All the Christmases of my childhood were spent at my paternal grandparents' house, next door to my own, at our family farm. We always opened our presents on Christmas Eve, a tradition I didn't realise was from our German roots until I was much older. 1996 was a year I was obsessed with Lois and Clark. Now that my generation of kids is grown, and most have children of their own, we don't do this Christmas any more. My grandparents' farmhouse i...

Surely Sarah: 4x4 Fun

http://surelysarah.blogspot.com/2015/08/4x4-fun.html

Friday, August 7, 2015. I 'd never been off-road with my husband before last weekend. When I was young I fondly remember my dad barreling the XF down dirt tracks to remote campsites, box trailer in tow. What fun. But I've never really been "4WD-ing" so when C decided he wanted to give another go to the mountain trail that I'd freaked out on a few weeks prior, I was a bit nervous. I must admit, being completely alone in the Australian bush unnerves me. I was on Yowie-watch the whole time! What I did like ...

Surely Sarah: My Internal Jukebox

http://surelysarah.blogspot.com/2015/07/my-internal-jukebox.html

Wednesday, July 22, 2015. Ever get a song stuck in your head? I think it happens to us all sometimes. Earworms, I've heard this phenomenon called. I always seem to be humming or muttering songs under my breath, usually something I've heard on the radio, or tv. Working in accounts receivable, this can become hilariously inappropriate when that song is "Bitch Better Have My Money". I'm curious to know - does your brain do this? I wonder how it chooses what to play next. July 22, 2015 at 11:45 AM. My brain ...
