Finchingfield - Hostelries
http://finchingfield.org.uk/hostelries.htm
The Fox, down on the green and near the pond, was once a coaching inn. The Red Lion is opposite the Guildhall on the hill. Built in the 15th century as a private house and modified in 1823 it is one of many buildings in the area which combine Tudor and Georgian architecture. Further up the same road, and on the other side beyond the church, is the Three Tuns. See the ' historic days. Page for pictures of the original, before and after the fire. The photos on this page were taken in August 2002.
Finchingfield - The Church
http://finchingfield.org.uk/church.htm
For many parishioners the way to church was through this gateway of the Guildhall, though perhaps the lads in this photo (probably late 19th century) have more mischievous plans for their day than listening to a sermon. The building is currently undergoing restoration and progress and more of its history can be seen on the Guildhall website (click here). Perhaps, given the dominant location of the building, the tower was used for both defensive purposes and for worship. There was once a spire but it ...
Finchingfield - A Panoramic Photo by John Houghton
http://finchingfield.org.uk/panorama.htm
Thanks to John Houghton for allowing me to include this 160 degree panoramic view. It was taken on 22 September 2000 using a Nikon digital camera. The picture is built up from seven separate shots which are 'pasted' together electronically. Use the horizontal scroll bar to see the full sweep of the centre of the village from the chapel on the left round to the road to Bardfield on the right. Photo ©2000 John Houghton. Finchingfield - Historic Days
http://finchingfield.org.uk/historic.htm
The Green Man public house in the early years of the 20th century. Beside it can be seen the Guildhall. A fire in 1905 destroyed the pub. The fire was attended by engines from the village and nearby Wethersfield and the 15th century Guildhall was saved. The curvy sign above the pub door tells us that, by a strange chance, the building also served as the local office for the Sun Insurance Company. Page ©2000-2012 Roger Beckwith. Finchingfield Past & Present - Introduction
I've visited Finchingfield in Essex many times, although I've never lived there. My mother's family name is found in the church records of 1632, not long after the records begin. My grandfather was born there but moved to London as a young man. My mother used to holiday in the village as a child, spending the summer weeks with her grandmother who lived in a cottage right next to the pond. This site is meant to be a personal view of the Finchingfield, not a comprehensive guide or a village web site. I...

Virtual Environments Group
Friday, 9 December 2011. Tuesday, 6 December 2011. The group made a decision to split up the animating element of our final composition. We hoped to achieve and learn new animating techniques and successfully implement new practices. We broke all of our sections down into scenes to help compact the workload and spread it out amongst us so that we would be able to share the animation as a group. Our scenes were set at 25 fps and rendered uncompressed with HD resolution 1280x720. We had to scale down some ...
