They are Eastern Orthodox Christians for the most part with a few Catholics as well. A recent migration has included more from Beiruit who became active in the restaurant business. Although many people think Wichita is another Amarillo where we eat barbeque and chile, in fact Wichitans actually have opinions about who has the best hummus. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Is the soul reflected. Prairie Sunrise by Charlie Clark. Wednesday, July 28, 2010. The American disease—and I'm quoting someone I can't remember—is forgetfulness. Is the soul reflected. Prairie Sunrise by Charlie Clark. Saturday, March 21, 2009. I'm back. Spring seems to inspire me to get off the stick and really do things. Actually, I've written several blog entries, but never got around to posting. I am, however, going to add (at the bottom of this) something that I wrote New Year's Day, just because it had a message I want to make note of, for myself anyway. We also bought a fountain the other day, which Charlie just set up last night. My dreaming included plan...

Is the soul reflected. Prairie Sunrise by Charlie Clark. Friday, February 4, 2011. February 3, 2011. It's official: Kansas had a real, honest-to-goodness blizzard; Tuesday's evening weather report confirmed that all the criteria had been met. Mid-day Tuesday, from the kitchen window. Through the dining room window. Now, we're in an arctic deep-freeze, but it's very pretty outside. Finally, the wind is calm, the sun is bright, and I'm almost tempted to bundle up and go out— almost. From the back deck.

Is the soul reflected. Prairie Sunrise by Charlie Clark. Wednesday, March 23, 2011. I posted the last week about craving color. A trip to Yoder, KS, provided that. To begin with, I saw YELLOW daffodils and YELLOW forsythia beginning to bloom. A friend and I went there for the Parade of Quilts, an annual event during which handiwork of local residents is displayed in several of the town's businesses. Now, that. Debbie and granddaugher Zoie. My indulgence: blackberry cream pie. The piece de resistance.

Spiritcreek: Too Late to Take Shelter
http://spiritcreekfarm.blogspot.com/2015/08/too-late-to-take-shelter.html
Stories from the tall grass prairie in the Kansas Flint Hills. Sunday, August 9, 2015. Too Late to Take Shelter. Eventually I fell asleep only to become conscious sometime later of a howling wind raging outside. It has to be loud for me to hear it inside my snug little house. I could see the trees thrashing violently in the constant lighting. The tones in the wind were frightening. I was not afraid (yet) but the thought did cross my mind of a headline: Old Kansas Woman Dead in Tornado - What Are The Odds?

Spiritcreek: November 2014

Stories from the tall grass prairie in the Kansas Flint Hills. Sunday, November 23, 2014. Canine Cuisine, the Fine Art Thereof. The good news is that, based on a routine check up, there is nothing sinister - at least nothing obvious. I have to give Duke a Prilosec for stomach acid 15 minutes before his first meal, and then I serve the good old dog home-cooked human food: hamburger and rice mixed with eggs and cottage cheese, with yogurt and pumpkin thrown in, too. It smells delicious! It rattled as I wal...

The best advice is to always pay attention around horses - just in case. I also did not name these wild beasts! Ginger surely must be named for the fictional mare in the children's book Black Beauty. Spiritcreek: Eighteen Miles of Kansas
http://spiritcreekfarm.blogspot.com/2015/07/coming-home.html
Stories from the tall grass prairie in the Kansas Flint Hills. Sunday, July 5, 2015. Eighteen Miles of Kansas. The Kansas River is "UP" as we say in Kansas. A bit of an understatement. Upstream, to the west. It is impossible to capture distance! After the wheat harvest, in the gloaming. It is a beautiful sight. Green in every known shade thanks to the rain. Every year, the earth faithfully produces the grain and grass and the beauty. A sight too long absent from the skies. A Lot To Be Thankful For.
