And then there was Christmas. The house was not clean, the candles were missing, the sheets had not been washed, our favorite foods no where to be found and we got bad news. But, the music was cued, the shopping was finished, and I was silly excited. and oh so grateful. Momma was home! This year we did things a bit differently. One more thing, I was thankful for Nat King Cole. I'm so glad he recorded all those amazing songs! I don't know what I believe about life today, but the stories of love and gratit...

Floating Cloudberries: almost normal.
http://floatingcloudberries.blogspot.com/2015/08/almost-normal.html
Nothing to see here! Because in a year like this. Year, when change has been the only constant and novelty my closest neighbor, the ordinary feels awfully good. A little exotic, even. I finished going through all the drawers, unpacking boxes and airing out wrinkly britches. Everyday accomplishments snuck in. I made ten minutes to rip a sweet dreams CD for my troubled sleep. Finally, I have the means to muffle the demons stampeding. I began a novel! So far, recipes were the only fiction I've read all year...

Floating Cloudberries: out of my mind...
http://floatingcloudberries.blogspot.com/2009/04/out-of-my-mind.html
Out of my mind. I have a migraine. I've had it for 4 days. I got it working on this blog, on my laptop, looking down. at my laptop. It has ached me and pained me. I've been in format hell, font hell, wrapper hell and well all kinds of heated underworld. But alas here we are, not perfect - but here. It has been a huge labor of love and I'm so happy to finally be getting to the writing part of this beautiful journey that I am on the reason I am starting this blog in the first place! At least not enough.

Here comes the sun. I’m going to be honest. It’s still a goat rodeo around here and I’m no where near catching up. In addition to the regular drill, for some reason, I decided to add spring cleaning to the mix. So, this is fun. I’m no where near done, but I'm working on it. I was out walking, as I do, once the weather warms past, say, minus ten. These walks aren't usually, anything remarkable. They are for the most part short, familiar, pretty rote. Some days are all-in! Yeah What I just said. As I appro...

Floating Cloudberries: dusting of cornflower.
http://floatingcloudberries.blogspot.com/2015/07/dusting-of-cornflower.html
True story: Back when I waited tables in a pink polyester uniform for a living, we once had a server call in for the day saying, "Man, I just got the blues". For some reason, that ranks as one of the funniest moments in my professional career. It still cracks me up. I mean, that's what I call brutal honesty. Realize that life loves you the exact same way. This approach may not cure all. That ails you, but if nothing else, it's the prettiest distraction. 1 large yellow onion, peeled. 1 green bell pepper.

That kind of girl. I am a pink flower kind of girl. I am, for that matter, a pink kind of girl. To be perfectly honest, I am not the type to ply the phrase "that kind of girl". It has always made me cringe. Itch, even, allergic-like. It's the implied confines, I think, the connotation of limitations. I've always felt a little claustrophobic around conformity, always avoided typecasting. So, time passes and peonies happen. The peonies started budding last week.Blooming yesterday! Barbie's Dream House pink.

Well That was exhausting. 2014, I mean. Lovely for the most part. But exhausting. So It's that time of year again. I'm looking out into a sky that spans an entire year. Actually, I'm looking out at two. I just returned from a trip down memory lane, via my archives. I read my journal from exactly one year ago, written from this very same spot. I read it once, then I read it again. I walked it once more, every step of the way. I laughed a sympathetic laugh for that girl. They are my sparkly lights. On the ...
