Waiting for Isa B: Weigh-in Wednesday
http://waitingforisab.blogspot.com/2011/01/weigh-in-wednesday.html
Waiting for Isa B. Wednesday, January 19, 2011. I've been meaning to do this post for a couple weeks now. 2 weeks ago I chickened out and last week I was sick. This week I have no excuse. (Say it with me: proactive. proactive. proactive. proactive). It's a bit scary to put myself out there like this, to admit how heavy I've become. But then I realized that if you know me in person you might not know the number on the scale but you already know how big I am. If you don't know me in real life then ...Janua...

Laquo; I guess…. Because Tova is very convincing. August 10, 2010 by tafel. Warning: you might find yourself drooling uncontrollably if you read all the way through.). And I’m calling this a Food Friday post, even though it’s Tuesday. I’m a rebel like that. First, two delicious salads, Yemiser Azifa. Next, some wats: our perennial favourite Doro Wat. And the runner-up, Shiro Wat. I could have sworn I had already posted a Mesir Wat recipe, but apparently not. So here it is:. 1 clove garlic, minced. Add re...

the eyes of my eyes are opened: Somehow, Someday
http://theeyesofmyeyesareopened.blogspot.com/2009/11/somehow-someday.html
Kololo School and Library. A Book in Their Hands. Tuesday, November 3, 2009. Saturday was Halloween. If you have struggled, or are currently struggling to have children, you don't need me to tell you that Halloween can be a sad day. Halloween brings all of your longing right up to the surface. It is a day when you repeatedly open the door to everything that you want, but can't seem to have. Like some desperate weirdo. Saturday was not one of those days. It was not one of those days at all. This day was a...

the eyes of my eyes are opened: Thoughts at Six Months Home...

Kololo School and Library. A Book in Their Hands. Monday, February 15, 2010. Thoughts at Six Months Home. We have been home from Ethiopia for six months. In many ways it feels like it has been six years, and in many ways it feels like it has been six days. I can honestly say that the best piece of adoption advice that I ever read (and I can’t remember where I read it) was:. Don’t evaluate anything in your new family for at least six months. Sleep when they sleep. Two very important pieces of advice.

I haven't been here in a while. There are reasons for it. I needed you all (and maybe you even needed me). I have always felt like this was a blog about how we g...

Almost-Professional recipes | Bolt Upright
https://boltupright.wordpress.com/2010/03/21/almost-professional-recipes
Laquo; so. full. Go forth and donate. March 21, 2010 by tafel. Since Gwen flattered me by asking, here are a few of our favourite recipes. (Sport says my Ethiopian food is “almost professional”.). For starters, you can find my Doro Wat recipe here. This is my modified and tried-and-true version of one I found online ages ago. 1 cup canned tomatoes, mashed or pureed. 2 large red onions chopped very very finely (food processor is fastest). 5 cups of water. Salt to taste (I use about a teaspoon). On March 2...

She's the bravest person I know. There's a picture of us together in Makeda's bedroom. I'm not going to post it on the...I hope she's safe...
